I just installed a set of WRP Boards. Drill a few holes used a Jig saw with a fine tooth metal cutting blade a Dremel tool cleans it up or a file to take the edge down, Pop rivet gun your set.

i used my grinder with a zip disk......cut like butter...was nervous until i made the first cut, but then i saw how well it worked...turned out to be an easy job...and the snow eliminators are one of the best things you can do....what a difference!

....just make sure you double and triple check for anything on the underside of where you are cutting or drilling!!!

I don't mean to hijack the thread but do these products really strengthen up the boards? I am always nervous cutting away good metal and replacing it. How would just riviting new "stuff" to the old stuff strengthen your boards? Would it be better to weld it? Whay type of rivits are used? Sorry for all of th questions but I have been considering replacing mine. Thanks.

I used the better boards on my 09 D800.They are not ment to streghthen the foot wells but to get rid of the accumulation of snow and give you traction with out ice build up.this was probably one of the best mods I have done.I used a jigsaw with a fine metal cutting blade to get rid of the excess. The rivets that came with the kit are Stainless S and very hard to rivet.I would recomend the air riviter from Princess Auto

You only cut away small portions, and you add a much thicker, stronger section. I used the ol jig saw to do mine, had to hold it upside down and cut from the under side, while watching the blade from the top side. Like the other guy said, measure 3 times, cut once!! and wear your eye protection.

The biggest advice I could give is to use an air rivet gun, and get the heaviest, strongest rivets you can find, the air rivet gun really pulls everything together nice and tight. Use lots of rivets too, they are cheap.

There are a few opinions on this subject, some say week some say stronger.
I was more after the snow elimination and the traction I placed some on 05 Polaris IQ the stock running boards had neither, I also do not do any big drops or jumps with this machine so never really concerned me also my old running boards had been modified with larger holes to get the snow out in this case they now are definitely stronger on the one side with the new WRP board then the other with out.
I never had a problem with pop rivets as long as the hole is drilled to the proper size for the rivet and use good ones.
