The M12 is old technology but for DYI'ers works great... I bought my M12 Impact back in 2010 as a factory refurbish when we built our deck at the acreage. That thing has never let me down, starting to get a little weak now and the batteries don't hold a charge as long as they used too but I figured I might as well keep with what I know works well and since I already have a charge & 2 batteries. Now I have 2 chargers, 4 batteries, 2 impacts and the rest of the kit (Sawzall, drill, ratchet & light) not bad for $299
