Mine did the same thing I could bring down the RPM with a flick of the choke but it would go back up. Took it in for a leak down test and failed horribly new engine later everything was good to go. My crank seal was good my problem was a reed petal delaminated broke off and went thru the engine, sounded like a common problem. The earlier 800R are notorius for bad crank seals leading to RPM creep

hey work2ride is that what you wanted to hear about your new sled?

You scared the chit out of me so I took it to the dealer, I have engine warranty until November 30th, I hope they don't fawk me around.

Next door to my neighbor...
My 2010 is doing the same thing to me. Warms up at about 2500 rmp and won't come down until you hit the choke for a second. After a short ride today, it was sitting about 3600 rpm and had to use the choke to get it to come down and then creeps back up to 2600~2800 rpm. Only 40 miles on sled. I asked the service guy at the dealership and he says hard to diagnose with that few hrs on it. I don't buy it, something is not right.

if it corrects itself with the addition of fuel via the choke then you gotta think that maybe its a lean condition at idle right........

Or it goes fat and misfires slightly causing it to slow down.

exactly my point, why not test air screw or pilot jets then? Worse thing that happens is nothing I guess.

Not pickin' fights. What I'm getting at is 2 strokes will often rev because there is really no reason for them not to. The amount of air/fuel to idle higher isn't much different. That's why some of the aftermarket guys came up with the Powerwings or VPI's to help solve this problem (amongst others)
First thing is to make sure it's not sucking air or having trouble getting fuel at idle.

LOL - I'm not picking a fight with ya either, I know you know your stuff - I'm legitimately asking, sorry if it came across as otherwise - that's the problem with the internet. To me, if you flick the choke and it idles down, possible lean condition, I would test for an air leak. If no air leak I would crank the air screw, if that didn't work I would fatten the pilot, if that didn't work I would go back to stock settings and try something else (maybe it misfires as you indicated). I guess my point was that a guy has to try something/start somewhere for a diagnosis. Giving the air screw a turn or changing the pilot is an easy adjustment - if nothing happens then you set it back to stock and look for the next potential.

Agree 100%. Only takes a minute to check the adjustment screw! Why not try right?

- Replaced the exhaust gasket because the exhaust donut was missing.

- The air box foam was ice and their was water in the air box, they cleaned that out.

- Clunked going into Reverse so they adjusted the chain.

- Adjusted TPS

- Valves are good

- No Vacuum Leaks Found

- Cleaned Clutches and put on a new belt( I wanted to buy one on the internet, oh well at least now I have it)

- While they had it apart I got them to install quick clickers

$554.50

Well from loading it, feels like the RPM's are to low and when I give it gas it's like I have a brake on(like park brake). I'm sure I'm just being paranoid, really want get it out now and ride the chit out of it.
