Have you actually weighed it? I would be really surprised if it actually was as light as they said .
I'm not sure why people don't understand the basic info printed on the door sill plate.

Here is mine...2011 HD F150 5.0 4x4 Reg Cab.

GVWR = 8,200 lbs
Front GAWR = 4,050 lbs
Rear GAWR = 4,800 lbs
Payload = 2,708 lbs

Subtract 2,708 lb payload from 8,200 lb GVWR and that means my truck weighed 5,492 lb from the factory including all options and full fluids, this is the curb weight. As long as I don't exceed either axle weight rating I can add up to 2,708 lbs of breathing or non breathing items to my truck and be road legal.

Whats your point...I just gave you the specs for my F150 with a 2,708 payload. LOL

Lots of 1/2 tons with way less than 1,600 lb payload.

I do not recall saying there was anything wrong with the specs of your truck, you proved that your truck is capable. I commented on a post with no proof at the time, of what the truck was spec’ed to. Unfortunately not all 1/2 tons are the same, especially fords.
Plus I’m a little bored and figured id try running the post count up a bit more.

Ha Ha...no problem...I'm doing the same thing.

Cold and wet here in Fernie...already had a hot tub and I don't want to finish my taxes so I'll leave that for tomorrow.

Unfortunately I never weighed the truck before I put the deck and the equipment box in.

The new stuff added was an 8' Truck Boss Deck, a carbide protection kit, a 12' ramp, a winch mounted on the deck as well as an 8' equipment tub that slides in and out of the box. With a full tank of Gas and my 190 lb body ballast the weight came out at 6,404 lbs on a certified scale. That's an additional 912 lbs over the factory curb weight...seems legit to me.

No...I'm not wrong.

I'm legally allowed to add 2,708 lbs of payload to my vehicle to bring it to the maximum GVWR of 8,200 lbs. I have to make sure that the weight is distributed over both axles so i do not exceed either the front GAWR (4,050 lbs) or the rear GAWR (4,800 lbs). Both front and rear GAWR add up to a total of 8,850 lbs...650 lbs more than the vehicle GVWR.

And yes, you can be legal on both axles and over the GVWR...never said you couldn't. In my case I could legally have 4,000 lbs on the front and 4,700 on the rear but i would be 500 lbs over the GVWR and therefor be illegal.

Please educate me how you load weight over the front axle other than two guys in the front seats. Strap your gear bags to the hood?!?

Any weight in front of the rear axle proportionately adds weight to the front depending on where it’s placed. Same as weight behind reduces weight on the front axle.

OK...no problem.

My truck has a 2,700 lb payload. I jump in the front seat, lets say I'm 200 lbs...that leaves an additional 2,500 lbs payload.

Just to make things super easy to understand and visualize...lets say I purchase a slug of lead that is 11.25" x11.25" x 48" wide and weighs just under 2,500 lbs. I load that slug of lead in my 8' box that has approximately 5' in front of the rear axle and 3' behind the rear axle. I place that slug of lead with the 48" width facing sideways at the very front of the box and then I place it at the very back of the box...do you really think there will be no difference in these two scenarios between the front and rear axle weights?

you got that right, and probably 50% of those who try will be better than most that already truck. Just being cheekey with that last message, of course this is snow and mud, nobody stays on topic, me included.
