Gvw is a factor, it combines the payload and the vehicle weight.

I looked back at my other post and I did mention Gcvw, my bad it wasn't what I ment.

I wonder how many documented cases of properly equipped 1/2 tons with a deck and two sleds, have had accidents directly attributed to deck and sleds? Is Ford the only truck that has 2700-3000 lb payloads on their 1/2 tons?

My old white truck doesn't have a deck.

I'm not fighting with you either dude I unsure where this disconnect is really, the above quote is your words I just made the observation that the 2660 on the chart you provided has a "t" beside it indicating a special package has to be on the truck to meet that 2660 payload. And if yah look at the bottom of that chart it says as such.

You say I have made pointless observations? maybe so, but my observation thus far is, some do not read or understand the fine or bold print.

I am chalking it up to misinterpretation of interweb chatter. I agree that not everyone reads the fine print.

Cheers.

If my Ford f-150 with 2 sleds on an aluminum deck looses 1 wheel at 60 mpr, is it still legal too drive the last 140 kms to Golden BC in a snow storm at 2am.

Hate to give up on a good run when I'm up to speed. Ha

Can't this thread die?

Simple as loadig all your gear, fueling up, getting a passenger going to the scale and comparing your rear axle weights and GVWR to the sticker. See how much room you have, then just try and add the manufacture listed weight of the sled's to see if it's even close.

Can't die ever.

Yup old thread and hot topic. The way i see it is they say it can haul the weight and the trucks can haul it for sure no doubt about it. Years ago the sleds were heavier, the decks were over built with strong steel so we needed a minimum 3/4 ton to haul all that weight and now lighter sleds and decks. I think its all about safety. Too much top heavy weight if you have to make a quick decision on a corner if its your life or someone else you need to worry about. Prime example: ALL vehicles can travel at least 200 kilometers per hour....... why dont we do that?
