Hertz US sending up guys to buy....[/QUOTE said:
Nope, but LOTS of US buyers are here.
That strong exchange rate is very inviting.

Ps, there is another equipment sale at Michener Allen May 9th in Edmonton.
Not nearly the excitement surrounding that one so prices should be softer.

Volvo's aren't bad loaders, but they don't hold they're value against Cat, JD and case....

Your right not bad, but still no screaming deals.....with all that's going on in this province, and even though a lot of buyers from south of the border, there still seems to be lots of money in Alberta....

At least they keep a HD tech like myself busy.

Weren't they bought by a China company?

Their auto division was. The construction division (completely separate company) is primarily based in Sweden with a growing presence in the states. I've been told at a factory training course that Volvo wants all north american product to be built at their Shippensburg, PA plant eventually. They have however invested heavily in China, moving their reman component manufacturing there sadly...

With that said, I'm a big fan of the E and F series loaders, as well with the D and E series articulated trucks. They just seem to go and go and go (with proper maintenance of course). Then DPFs and EGR came along and the whole construction equipment industry took a huge reliability hit.

Fawkin Ritchie's making another bazilion dollars.

yuuuup....no warranty, no after sales support, no delivery, no financing and RB's fees are usually higher than the equipment dealers markups........the auctioneers make more money selling as-is/where-is than most dealers make on reconditioned equipment.......:noidea:

Ritchies does offer financing now, but their strength lies in the market they have created. They reach such a vast network of buyers and their reputation is rock solid. What allot of people done know is many financial institutions use Ritchie's average selling prices as the market price on equipment values.

Was an outing away from work yesterday but for finding a deal on things I was looking at wasn't happening. I was very surprised at the amount of out of province Internet buyers And what the older items were bringing. I would have been a happy seller with any of my items there.

I had planned on possibly bidding online, but never got around to it, with my shift changing i wanted to watch online. Hopefully the Toromont CAT dealer in Winnipeg doesn't sell the iron i took a look at last weekend. 973C track loader. I wanted to watch Ritchie for a track hoe seen a lot of ones i was interested in. But like the Saskatoon auction they had last month i assumed it would go for top dollar still.
