Yes i did, paid BCSF directly and Ministry for yearly business permit.

So you were buying a BCSF membership, but bypassing the requirement under each clubs management agreement to pay the clubs (not the BCSF/ABCSC) a user fee for each of your guided customers per user day to access their managed trail systems.

Consider yourself lucky then. Our club would have addressed this very aggressively.

And now.....:focus:

No customer paid their trail pass fee at trail head every outings.

Good for them, but that doesn't address your financial obligation as a commercial operator. The point is....you as a commercial operator did not pay the clubs, as required under their agreements (and probably yours if you actually had a Commercial Rec Tenure), to operate a commercial touring business on their groomed and managed trail systems, and now you're whining about having to buy 2 memberships instead of one. Seems to me you're the one in another thread chastising people for grumbling about paying 12% tax on their used sled purchases. The hypocrisy is obvious.

I'm done with this. Sorry for the threadjack, but I thought it was important information. Back to topic. :)

OMG, is it me or do you not understand what i'm saying......YES i paid my trail pass, i do every year and stick the decal on the sled like everyone else that gets a yearly pass. One year i had 2 passes one BCSF decal and one ABCS decal. maybe my english is realy bad, but holy i didn't think it was that bad. Stop trying to read between the lines and speculating on what i might of and didn't of.
Anyhow it don't matter cause i don't guide anymore.

Our local guide outfit pays a per sled guided fee each year to the club, It's up to the club/ guide operation to negotiate the compensation.

Our mountain bike club has a management agreement for a couple areas and it states we can charge a fee to commercial operators and individual users if we want.

Yup, exactly what I was trying to figure out if he was paying. Obviously the clubs he was dealing with weren't aware or didn't care that he should be paying for more than just a trail pass as a commercial operator.

does that not give someone the exclusive right to an area, as in excluding others on public land? correct me if i'm wrong, just my understanding
No, a commercial recreation tenure does NOT give exclusive rights to exclude the public, only other commercial operators.

I know Lund...

He's a straight shooter period

Think ur a hypocrite for saying what u said about how he operates....

I never once got that he didn't pay his dues, or the people he guided

But it does suck, guiding in general , there's is so many expenses to it, I think is what he is saying

Hard to make money doing it, as no one wants to pay, but yet it costs so much to be legit

sent while I should be drinking tea's

was wondering, as i think more than one tour operater uses the same areas in golden, no idea on tenure or anything like that. they seemed to be busy whenever i saw them out. looked more like a lesson in frustration than anything else though. they had lots of stucks all over.

The government ended up with a number of overlapping tenures when they put the big push on to fast track applications a few years back. And if they're using a clubs groomed trail system they're supposed to be paying the club a yearly fee over and above trail passes, but apparently some aren't. Then there's always the ones doing it illegally without a tenure. Doesn't seem to be any enforcement going on.

I guess I kinda derailed this thread a few pages back. Sorry Trish! :aim_sorry:

That's correct i shared the same area as Rene St-Onge and we both got alot of our work directly from the local club and local dealer's from people inquiring on guiding in Sicamous area.
