Just a question here. A couple years back a couple of my buddies ran into a group of guys helisking in the Chappel Creek area near Valemount and the skiers got irate with them and were yelling at them that this area was only to be used for heliskiers and no sledders were allowed in the area. They were not in any Cariboo closure areas but the skiers said something about the heliski outfit having exclusive access to the area. Is this correct or were these guys being asses in an attempt to keep the area to themselves?

I'm not familiar with that specific area, but some of them have managed to get section 58 motorized closures on their areas, and some haven't. Front Counter BC should be able to tell you about the specific areas.

Guide/Outfitters have been trying this for years too. I'm not aware of any of them that actually have legal exclusive access though.

Buy the road that will allow access to the area through motorized areas. At this point it is private and they can do what they want. Probably a expensive option.

Sure be easier to police all this BS if thier was one association to deal with in the whole province. Oh I am not giving up on the plan, we are coming, the new blood and we are sick of the old excuses, we can't get along. BS.

I hope that you are correct and we do see a return to one association, but I am not holding my breath waiting.
In our area we are seeing less, not more, new blood getting involved. If this is the trend provincially then nothing will change.
Now, this begs the question.
Are you personally doing anything towards bringing this change about??

Chappell Creek is sledder country. ALTHOUGH, they do ski within our boundaries all the time.......

Follow the loggers. They have government support. When they are gone you have a couple three years til the planters are done. then a couple more til the posey sniffers come.

If you want to hang around the you have to talk to the posey sniffers. They are experts at "meetings". They understand consensus. They are your "friends" during the couple three years of "meetings", congradulate you on your dedication to your sport, agree with you on the "bad apples", teach you new "key words" and how to use letters instead of whole words to impress the gov't person who is usually just happy with the road trip, drink beer with you instead of wine but will not be happy or kudo'd by their peers until you are gone or forced into small ball of squirming worms.

Bin dere don dat. The loggers are my "friends". They groom my trails, hide my tracks, and wave instead of finger me on their way home. Skiers stay away and posey sniffers can't stop them. Their "organization" is pretty big too.

Yes I am, I am active in the Revelstoke club, as well as on snow patrol. And I am asking these questions, trying to find a way to get back as one unified association. It is a start, I have just never understood it all so trying to figure out where it went sideways so we do not repeat. First part of solving the problem is realizing it. I am not claiming to be Herb Shaede, but even he had to start somewhere. But I am very passionate about sledding and wanting to see change, but first I/we need straight answers on what went wrong and how to bring our family back together. Even in my inexperience I know as other have said we need one united front.

I have to commend you for not being one of those that are just sitting back griping. As moyiesledhead said try to get some of the older members to talk one on one(off the record, so to speak) and you may get some insight into what transpired. Good luck with your efforts and regardless of the outcome, thanks for trying.
