Big ride on Sunday, snow was good but a little dangerous. Front side of turtle to eagles cabin to copeland mine back to turtle, through kirkup to boulder out to the cabin and the truck. 97 miles. Monday we rode sale, staging at the hwy still, was good as well, hardly any tracks in the caribou area.

Wife and i were parked beside ya when we loaded back up Sunday, black truck with deck. I recognized that black and gold SRX, not too many like that kicking around here.
Very nice pic's.

How much fuel did you have to pack for that jaunt?

I've done the trek from Eagles to Boulder and back a couple of times, years ago. 2005-06 around that time.
On an RT1000. In our group there was 2 RT and 2 Vertical Escapes and 1 Rev. We came back on little fuel from what i remember, used up our carry on fuel.
It's an awesome ride, i haven't done it since as i don't anyone to do it with anymore.
These new sleds are much better on fuel then what we had then.

We intend on doing that same ride (minus the rip up to Boulder on the same day) in a few weeks time. Did it earlier this year at the end of March with another small group we met up with and were able to able to avoid putting in extra fuel (at least the 2 strokes were able to...) lol

When we dropped down into kirkup creek I dumped a gallon in so I didn't run out up the creek, there was no sign of a trail so I didn't know how vicious I was going to have to get. My father made it all on the standard tank of gas, I think he had 80 miles at the end of the day.

Lund, I thought that was probably your BTX that day, I was going to come over but decided to minded my own business, I think Randy introduced us at yamafest too, I was riding my blue and yellow sled that day and Randys sidewinder.

Taking my kids next saturday, I wish they where still grooming going to be a long bumpy ride on the indy lite. lol

Yup be ready for a long bumpy ride up haha. Though you might be able to get in closer, snow melting alot, very warm and sunny around here.

X 2. Any news on the parking? At the
little cut out at the junction just past km 3?
A group of us going to try to make it from boulder to eagles cabin and return to boulder. Can it be done in a day? We usually only go to the mine and back.
Anyone been into Keystone lately. Have a buddy who has never been. Hoping to get a ride in there as well.
Thanks in Advance.

Parking at the small pit just past the Kirkup junction. Friday we went into Turtle and rode full coverage snow right from the junction. There were a few gravel spots on the way down Friday evening but that's understandable given the 24 C heat on Friday. I would imagine a little more went yesterday with the monsoon they had. Still great coverage for this time of year!

I heard Keystone was decent too but have no first hand knowledge.

I would imagine you'd want to get on the Boulder to Eagles mission right away before the creeks start opening up down low. Dropping out the Kirkup right now may be starting to get a little dodgy as the water starts moving. The back way into Turtle is a royal pain in the ass once the creeks open up and start flowing across the road where culverts have been removed.

we do the turtle to eagles every year beginning of may, we will be doing it on saturday just follow our tracks.
its a great tour. we even punch up the creek to boulder from back way out of turtle. so you do 3 ranges in one day turtle to eagles and back across turtle. at the bottom of the trail coming down turtle you punch up the creek and it takes you to about the half way point on the boulder range. then have a beer at boulder cabin
and down kirkup to trucks.

Did you end up going & try the connection from Turtle to Boulder? Would be curious to know how fast the snow line is receding. We are heading out next weekend (May 11-13) for sure. Thinking about early June..

Rode eagles on Thursday. Parking at km 7. Too much snow to drive the vehicles any farther. Way too much bare dirt road after that as well. Would be better if a person could park about km 16 with the vehicles. Just past the burned up Polaris on the side of the rode. Probably about 8 km of dirt on and off until then. More dirt than snow for sure. Wore out some skis.

Parking at boulder at just past the junction at 3. Just past the groomer. the larger trailers can park at the small pit just to the left of the groomer. There were still a couple of gravel trucks hauling today. We had a radio. So no problem. Too much snow yet to cross the bridge on the Kirkup. Minimum bare spots going up The road. No bad creek crossings yet, heading into turtle from the front side. Don’t know about the backway.
Going by to try keystone tomorrow. Will post after.

Rode Keystone yesterday. Parking at km 9.5. We took up
a truck with a sled deck and truck with a four place enclosed. Turned the the truck and trailer around at km 8.5 clearing and backed up to the snow at 9.5km. Cleared out the shovel out.
Hope this helps. Ride safe everyone.
