not a lot to do with glue ray! the floor lino is put down In a hot climate, and is stretched, along comes alberta cold winter. lino contracts and breaks . you can fix it with tiles or laminate. very rarely see lino not split in the spring. to much of a temperature change.

The dirty culprit is indeed glue, I spoke to several manufactures 3 years ago when ours split all over , what happens is in the factory they lay it down, however they only glue the edges, most of the underside of the Lino is left unglued

yes the edges are glued screwed and held down by walls. but the main culprit is they are installed stretched by heat, they are usually built in the southern states, travelaire never had the same problem built in red deer.

heat is the culprit not the glue or lack of. lino expands and contracts big time.

It's the lack of glue. Got this info from SEVERAL Rv dealers. Had two split myself over the years.

Mallard (Fleetwood)...glued edges...split at 2 yrs old.
Triple E....glued edges (Made in Canada)....split at 3 yrs old.
Jayco Jayflight...glued everywhere....no issues in 6 yrs.

When the entire floor is glued it doesn't split Larry , it still expands but it expands with the substrate that it's glued to

it very well could, but materials will expand at different rates and plastic, expands a bit more than wood. have never seen lino glued or bare side by side in a trailer so who knows.

maybe, then if that is true why don't they glue vinyl siding to the wall, instead of channel to let it expand or contract? just asking

i can see the temps of the subfloor an lino being closer together, but at 30-40 below? no idea?

you could be right!

Vinyl siding on a house is another ball game , it's allowed to expand and contract via slotted holes on the top hanging lip and is exposed to direct uv
