I heard yesterday that the coal mines are now saying no overtime, no more hotshots and no working stats.

I hope things start to pick up. Lots of really good hands sittin. Two guys called looking for jobs today and its sunday. We need to get busier or be forced to lay off a guy or two. The government has everyone in a stalemate it seems.

We are busier now and did not lay anyone off. Not flat out, but busy enough. Spoke with my downtown Calgary buddy awhile back, he said "dismal". But then I hear theres a lot of bids coming out. Could be just window shoppers, I don't know.

What are you folks seeing? Holio

First 3 weeks of August was a little slow for us (wireline) but we haven't seen too much of a slowdown. Busy now. We were lucky going into this with core clients that marched on... I see the big Blue and Whites yard is nearly empty of equipment yesterday.

Slow on the service side (rotating equipment) but we have enough installs to carry us for the next 24 months. Hopefully it picks up by then, should start getting calls to fix stuff that had maintenance pushed off as it starts to fail in the next year or so as well.

We are seeing a whole bunch of albertan's coming our way looking for work. Mainly the unskilled laborer and truck driver types.

Rock bottom for this recession is still two years away by my latest guess. No megga projects on the books for the oil and gas guys which does affect a lot of cash flow several ways across the country. Fortunatly not all sectors hit as bad. Not going to get a lot worse but a little worse yet then hold for 18 months and start to turn around.

That's money being spent that was committed before the big crash, there will be nothing new at this price for oil and the dippers in power.

Kind of what I figured but I think we need to figure in the big war that's coming...might be getting busy sooner than we think.

I beg to differ. Those with cash in their pockets are full steam ahead.

The biggest thing holding back massive projects?? SKILLED workers, not qualified but SKILLED. Watch any business show or read any business articles. There is a lots of money but big oil doesn't want to spend it foolishly. If we can supply them with skilled, qualified workers... We will be filling our pockets with cash.
