I don't understand employee entitlement. Even if you have worked somewhere for 30 years, why should they owe you so much? IMO if they give you proper notice, you should get nothing. An employee can leave an employer high and dry and the employer doesn't get any compensation.
And you've got it really well. Rental company I use to deal with, fired a bunch of the guys when company bought them out, manager after 25 years showed up to work they took his company truck keys, phone, and called him a cab and said you're done. Didn't take him long to find a new comparable job, and this wasn't that long ago. Not sure what kind of severance he got, but sure it wasn't much. I don't agree with how he got fired, but in a lot of cases you can find a comparable job, so why should they be paying for 18 months vacation? You dahm well know most people would spend a year or more not even looking for a job which is not the purpose of it.
