Taking property to play a pro active role to protect people from the possibility of a violent outbreak?
I don't see that point of view what so ever, and I'm not even a gun person in any way. The people
can have their gun's back at a later time if they can prove ownership. What a joke.Long gun's are
NOT Illegal and I am only guess here ,but I would assume 80% of people wouldn't have the proper
paper trail of ownership to get them back.
Realistically out of all of the things that I own,my truck and bike are the only thing's that I could
PROVE that are mine.(through bill of sales and registration). If they were indeed taken with the
intent of preventing some sort of a violent outbreak, then why stop with gun's,why not take every
knife, pointy object and projectile ?Those are weapons too.
Act's like this are moving North american's one step closer to a communist state.

however I can understand taking guns out of some peoples hands and particuly guns that are in plain sight. Where I'm living now there are guns everywhere and very poorly secured. If one nut job gets wound up or stressed out this place sure could get ugly. Its just a good thing country folk dont think like american city slickers

How so???? If he's a legal gun owner that snaps why wouldn't he just drive up the road with his CC to Wholesale Sports and get another one? You make it sound like gun owners are one step away from becoming homicidal maniacs at any given time. It's simply not true, quit watching CBC

It's the guys that's got his gun in a hidden , nonchalance spot that's going to loose his mind.

Not the guy with it stored in a locker like the law wants that is going to.

But if they break in a locked house.

What's this world coming too.

The cops break into homes and confiscate the personal property of the citizens of Canada and those citizens must prove ownership of their own property in order to get it back? Hmmm, whats wrong with that picture..... I know lets ask Kim Jung-un the leader of The Peoples Republic of North Korea.

Here is a tip for gun owners: The RCMP said if you can prove ownership you can have your guns back. I'm not sure what proof is needed. Bill of sale? I have guns that were given to me by scared out of their pants uncles when the stupid gun registry was mandatory. I took a pic of all my guns and wrote down the serial numbers and put it in my safe. This action just got me thinking if they took all my guns I would not be able to prove most of them are mine because I never registered most. Even if I can provide the serial numbers I don't know if they would give them back to me. Gun ownership is getting crazy in this world today

Theft is theft no matter who breaks into your house and steals your stuff. If this happened to my house I would file an insurance claim first, and I am pretty sure that my wife's jewelry would be missing along with any other items of value I could think of. Obviously any thief breaking into your house is going to take whatever they can never mind what uniform they are wearing.

So insurance fraud is ok then?

I guess that if the cops came across a grow op or a pile of child pornography when searching for people (which is what they were doing) they should just ignore and move on. Unsafely stored guns were taken and are to be returned. Mountain out of a frigging molehill.

Guns are equal to child pornography and illegal drugs in your book? Last time I checked guns weren't illegal.

You're okay with the RCMP busting your door in without a warrant making sure you don't have a drugs, kiddie porn or guns?

I normally dont really give a fak about the news but after reading this,,,really??? How is that even legal? How was that even brought up as a safety/rescue/best interest of the public plan? We re talkin small town alberta....fukked up. I wouldnt leave my home if i were there. Goofs. Ya and good luck getting your property back. Aaand shouldnt they have it documented what and where peoples belongings were taken for "safe keeping" And shouldnt it be their responsibility to return the personal property when "tensions" calm, not have the owner prove ownership of something that was stolen? Fuk governments full of raatards.

Well guys it doesn't surprise me a bit, when we had the fires here in Slave lake the homes were cleaned up before the home owners could even go through it. When we got back in all there was on your property was a hole... People asked where their safes were and nobody could give a good answer. Burnt? don't think so. Lots of people had very high end fire proof safes, and they were gone. Why would they not let you go through your property before they removed all your stuff? You tell me. We were all treated like criminals when we got back. I feel sorry for the people of High River. I can tell stories for days about the bull...t we went through with the police and government crap. Everyone thinks you own your property but you don't. When we got back you could not even enter your property without a security guard with you. I don't know why its just a empty hole..Sorry for the rant, it just brings back bad memories. P.S. High River residents be aware of the scam artists that will be coming, everyone wants to help..LOL

P.S Red Cross is the biggest crock.. If you want to donate to the flood victims don't use Red Cross. Not everyone knows that the money you donate to Red Cross does not mean it will go to who you want it to goto. lots of the money designated to Slave lake did not goto Slave Lake. Red Cross can give your money to anyone they want..in any country. How do you like that? Alot of local businesses found out the hard way.

Interesting that the prime ministers office even said that the RCMP should be focusing on more important things and need to return the firearms.

They interviewed a lawyer in Ontario today on the radio who specializes in Firearm litigation in all provinces of Canada and the NWT. He said what is happening in High River is unprecedented in all of Canada. He said what the RCMP are doing is illegal. There are only 2 ways they can enter a house legally. With a search warrant or if there is a feeling someone inside is in imminent danger for there life. If the owner is 50 miles away living with friends or in a RV park then they cannot enter with out a search warrant. He thinks there will be alot of lawsuits before this is over. Surprisingly he never offered his services?

They also interviewed the head cop from High River and he said they only took guns that were laying around and not in safe storage. When asked if there would be any problems for gun owners picking up there firearms he said no but..........if the weapon was prohibited then there would be a problem. Same for grow ops, etc. There again the search warrant thingy comes back into play. Looks to me the lawyers will be pretty busy in the next few weeks.

The Red Cross is spending money long before any donations are collected because they are preloaded with emergency funds from donations that may have been collected from around the world before the current disaster.

They are the first responders to disasters because of their pay it forward type system, always at the ready.

Start your own worldwide relief charity if you got it all figured out, fill yer boots.
