I checked in to see what issues people might be having with the full size Ranger 800.
Nothing to read.
Nice.

My brother and dad both had one. They are nice as they go good, ride nice and are a decent all around machine. A few cons are they are loud in the cab, rattle and squeak, and the passenger seat gets so hot in the summer you can't stand it. IMO look for a 900 they are twice the machine. Oh and both of those 800's used oil from day one.

They are a great yard machine for around the farm. I wouldn't use it for going out west mudding though.

see a few out west ion the trails, in fact trevor has one seems to do wel, although he won't go into the really deep stuff! guys at Bamm utv swear byy the 800's, so I really don't see a problem. you will have to do a few upgrades if your going into the mud. but I'm thinking you will have to with any Polaris.

I run a 2011 crew, the unit has 4500km on it. 25% of that has been trail with skag, another 25% road and field/ditches, and remaining 50% tight tree log infested quad trails. Run tracks two winters also. Havent had one mechanical issue but I see some play in the swing arm bushings now. No issues with mine and from what I see if you want to go fast and rip SH*! up then probably not for you. But if you want to get to destination and back with family, pets, fishing and hunting gear all packed in nicely then it may be a good fit. And yes the 900's are even better from what I have had a chance to see.

Not sure why the a arm bushings are not grease able? The 500, 570, and 900 are but not the 800.

Not sure why, but once its tore apart and the new bushings installed it sure will be greasable.

My dad picked up a midsize 800 ranger last year and that dam thing has impressed everyone with how good it goes, the only complaint my dad has is the ranger brake pad rattle drives him nuts, but other than that 2000 trouble free miles so far.

My 2011 ranger has been incredible. We literally use it every day and have never had a problem. It rattles and doesnt sound the greatest, but I think thats more a polaris thing. Been a good unit though.

The 800 mid size is a rocket! The only minor down side is the struts up front. That's only an issue if you plan on lifting it.

We put a 2 inch in dads and it made a world of difference, I believe we used the super atv one and it was just a block that sits on top of the strut not in the spring and it still rides like it did factory just sits higher. then the rear was a actual lift with a brace that goes across the back and lowers the shocks.

2 in is the biggest you can get. Tried to find bigger with my 500 but couldn't.

I have a 2011 800 XP and love it! Its like a tank! Have not had any issues…… knock on wood! If I have one complaint is the heat from the rad blowing thru a hole where the brakes and gas pedal enter into the cab. I think I fixed it though with expanding spray foam.

How many miles on avg do the 800's go before any major issues come up? I know it depends how it's used and stuff, but assuming it's not been badly abused and even mildly maintained.

What's a good price for one?

I have 2500 miles on mine with no issues…… knock on wood! I have seen prices for that year as low as 7500 bucks. I bought mine used 3 years ago for $9000 and got them to put a roof on and a winch for that price.

My cousin has a 800 and just did the motor at 7500km. And I would be willing to guess it only had one or two oil changes lol. But like I said my dads and brothers both used oil from day one. So you got to check/add.

We havea 2014 800 crew with 3000miles on it. Only thing is I had to change the throttle cable this winter and it's a bit of a job. However if I had a heated shop I probably would haven never had the problem to start with. Doesn't burn a drop of oil. We recommend it. However if your going to he racing, jumping or bogging I would go with something different.
