Bought my chip for my 2007 6.0l chev and it was like 450 if i remember right, im happy so far and ive had it for around a yr i have intake and exhaust as well its a must package
Gonna give some CPR to this old thread, anyone have a chip on a 2009 or newer F-150? I just want to increase mileage and need really no HP gain.
Edge is coming out with there color screen programers for the '09/10 F-150 at the end of the month I believe. I have a CS for my 06 and seem to be getting close to 4 MPG better. And that's just stock, I have a CAI I am going to add yet and am waiting for custom tunes from Power Hungry Performance yet too. So that should bump me a little more yet also.
I found chips barely work on gas trucks and that is the honest truth i ran one on a 2004 chevy silverado 6.0l SS with a superchip programmer took the top speed limiter out but really only gained 1-2 mpg if I was just cruizing at 110 down the highway other than that it ate my fuel up. Also Just had a bullydog (what a joke they are) in my 2009 nissan titan once again very little power difference the exhaust and intake did more than the chip did for it mileage was a tiny bit better same factor cruize it was good set it around 115-120 and ate the gas. Also stay clear from Bullydog there customer service is very poor I pulled my titan chip to give to a friend and it would not install into his 2009 same as mine after about 8 upgrades it still doesn't work and nothing getting done about it. In my opinion do the full header back exhaust with a nice afe or volant air intake with a throttle body and it will help you out way more. If u do wanna chip it go with the predator by diablosport THEY ACTUALLY WORK IN GAS TRUCKS !!!!!
Interesting....you go look in to any of the Titan forums and guys are loving the Bully Dog Power Pup or GT, and the Cortex system. Maybe the programs have improved since you tried it. They are getting improved dyno numbers and improved track times. Air fuel ratinos are spot on. As for it not working in your buddies truck, programs are non transferable unless initial truck is set back to stock (if you didn't already know that). You can however change the timing curve on as many trucks as you want.
I recently installed the bully Dog PP in my truck and it was a noticeable difference. Only thing I will say is for gas trucks, do not get your hopes up too high. There is a performance gain, but it isn't huge like on diesel trucks. Having the wide open throttle restriction removed is the most fun ever! As for gas mileage, if I could keep my foot off the throttle I might get better. :d
Best bet with the programmer is to also have higher airflow whether with a modified factory box and high flow filter, or CAI. Also a low restriction muffler like Magnaflow. That will get you the most out of a setup.
I will be towing with my setup soon and look forwrd to seeing what it changes.
take a stock truck put a chip in it go do some testing take the chip out and put an iar intake and exhaust on no chip and I bet the numbers will be way better without the chip
i have had a superchip tunner on my 5.4l gas f250 for years and it's a dog. It works better on stock setting and the only thing i use the tunner for is to adjust the tire size to get the speedo working correctly. Any modifications you make to the truck ( cai, exhaust etc. ) will de-tune the chip. The chip typically does not take into account the mods unless your tunner knows the custom program to account for the particular mods. Most people get worse performacne using a cai and tunner (unless you get a custom tune). Since superchip must be carb (emissions compliant) - they are reluctant to give you a tune that works with cai. Also superchips technical support sucks.
