Was out riding during the New Years break and had an issue with my sled overheating. It didn't do it until later in the week and I noticed that my snow flap was bent out away from the sled, would this cause it to overheat? I fixed it after I noticed it and the sled didn't over heat again but I didn't ride it much after adjusting the snow flap.

If you're on a packed trail having the snowflap in the right position makes a big difference.

Yeah, it was on a packed trail. Sounds like I should be fine now that I've fixed the snowflap, should probably add some scratchers to it as well just in case. Which ones do you guys recommend?

Soo overheated on the way down the trail in revy a couple weeks ago.

It was about plus 3 at the trailer.
Didn't think much about it at the time as the 2015 T3 are famous for overheating and this was my first time doing it.

I didn't catch the beeping until the temp bars were maxed, pulled over to the side of the trail tipped the sled on edge and burried the sled to cover the exchanger/ tunnel.

Sled shut itself down.

Had an apple juice and waited for it to cool down.

20 min, started it back up and it was at half bars. Rocketed down the last 5km, got her in the trailer and headed home.

Today I was moving sled around in the trailer and noticed that after about 5 mins I was at half bars already, much faster than normal.

Looked at the coolant reservoir and it was about 1cm from the bottom and well below the cold fill line.

Looked at the cooler, no holes or visible damage. The system is holding pressure.

Did it blow out all the coolent when it over heated or where did all the coolent go? Sled runs great otherwise.

To the guys that have overheated before, did you have to top up with coolant after?

I did roll my sled over a couple times during the day to get unstuck but I wouldn't think that it should matter unless I am having a problem with my coolant cap/breather line....
But like I said it is holding pressure.

Scratchers were down.

Flap was up.......
(Was just about to cut it off till I read the above....)

Plus 3 out.

Was probably going a little slow due to the whoops.

Where did I go wrong?
What else should I check?

Skegpro you have pretty much answered your own question, if you rode it that long that hot the fluid went out your over flow. If your over heating chainsaw the track into the snow an toss snow on top of the cooler but leave your sled running for a bit so the coolant can circulate threw the motor before shutting off. A lot of people shut the motor off way too quick.

Thanks man, I figured as much. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking anything. I wanted to leave it running after I "chainsawed" in but the computer shut it down.

Sounds just like coolent and I am back in the game :)

Only thing that scared the **** out of me is how damm fast it warmed up today.

Thanks again

Me and a few buddy's run powder freaks thermostats in our Xms after some heating up issues on the trails, freaks opens sooner to get that coolant circulating before it so hot everything is heat soaked, works great.

What kind of a job is it to change the housing/thermostat? I have looked for any DIY vids with no luck.
