Haven't heard much good about the arctic cats, I mean self tapping screws to hold the roll cage together?
I think I have the only defender in town but can't give a review since I've only put on .5 km haha

you should be fine with the defender, put some miles on and let us know how it works. lots of 4 seater kawasaki's running in the bush, only occasionally will see 4 seater polaris or can am.

I think when it comes to the Polaris line many go with the utility line ups. I know as our kids are getting bigger and want to do their own thing we have been looking at a more sporty ride, more for comfort then anything. Will keep our ranger for ever though as it is the ultimate hunting farm machine. That reminds me I need to install my two new gun racks.

To be fair all brands in the utv segment are evolving so quickly , we have more choice than ever. So our demands and expectations are growing as well...
Just a few years ago .. You chose a rzr or a rhino .

That was it , now we have sport / utility / 4 seaters/Sport utility crossovers /
And pure sport...
So what was relevant in some ways a few years back , may not be as much today...
Lots of choices & competition is good !

someone I know tested his kitty roll cage and it failed hope I never test mine.

I had the kawi 800 , put some miles on it and was very satisfied with the performance in pretty well all aspects. Had really no issues with it , very dependable and quite capable in the mud and muskeg. I did put 29 inch rubber on it which slowed it down for sure , but a little clutch kit helped that . It needed the extra clearance from stock IMO. Resale value was great , had a ton of interest immediately and was happy with the price I got in a short time. Have been out lots with a buddie who has the 4 seater, he runs it hard and same with his , very few issues.

I don't think any stock role cage will hold up to good!

I would say the new X3 is the best of the lot ... By a bunch though.
It's substantial , with a harness bar stock., as well as welded to the main frame ....
Should be like this on all high performance machines ...imo

+1 for the teryx4. I have one and works perfect. Lower hp than most new units had me worried when buying, but once driving it moves quite well, it actually surprised me. Shopped them all. Kawi has great built quality and rear seat is huge with short wheelbase.

we also have the kawi 4 str and have been very impressed with it as well there is an aftermarket rear bench available as well to fit 5

Looking at getting a AC HDX 700. Almost zero used units on Kijiji - are they that good that no one sells them??
Three seater as a hunting buggy and a trip or two a year just fun rides from farm to crown land.
Not interested in sport models - just not want I need/want.
Not interested in mud bogging either but a winch adder is must have.
Presently use brothers Rhino for about 150Km year but want my own machine - that's all the mileage it would get used.

I was in the exact same position as the OP. Sold my ranger and bought a can am defender max. No regrets at all. 10 times the machine my ranger was. So nice to have room to haul everyone safely.

You had the 800 if I remember correctly? The defended would be 10 times better then the 800. The 900 ranger is 10 times better then the 800. I like some of the ideas on the defender!
