Ok makes sense. So if a new Viper with mountain skid, track, tunnel, etc. comes in at roughly 50 lbs heavier than an XM, is it because of the 4 stroke motor, and a better built sled? Lol
what does the viper weigh over it's sister M8000?

I'm not here to ruffle feathers, but why is the Poo 45 lbs lighter than a Doo? Seen two brand new sleds roll over the same race scale last winter and a 163 Pro was almost 50 pounds lighter than a 146 XM. Both had about the same amount of gas.
If I was going to ride a stocker it would be Doo all the way, but why are they so heavy in comparison?

From my comparisons it's coming from a few things.

#1 is the longer wider full length cooler that doo provides and associated extra coolant ( is it required I don't know) perhaps an area to be improved. I sure enjoy not overheating EVER though....

#2 the factory xm exhaust system is much heavier than the pros from what I can see. Again I've never weighed it but just looking at it.

#3 the 16 inch wide aspect of the machine. Heavier suspension components and heavier track. Take the trimmings off a cut down 16 inch wide track and there is definetly some weight there.

#4 is the engine components. The etec engine is a much more advanced peice of technology which unfortunately comes with more electronic components.

# 5 is the chassis itself. The tunnel itself is thiner in the pro. And they have done some weight saving carbon components aswell.

I think skidoo knows they need to get lighter. But it will never be as light as the pro without sacrificing certain items.

Reading comments from pro rmk riders some were impressed at how it "feels" lighter than the pro rmk even though it's not. So if skidoo can shed some weight in the coming years and get it closer to the pro rmk weight then there will be no comparison between these 2 machines.

1/2 the rear cooler,I have seen the tunnel taco on a rollover, lots of CF parts, motor is probably 10 pounds lighter, wider track, Doo has a big airbox, and we won't talk about the driveshafts, or the trailing arms...
My 13 Pro with CR tunnel, bigger cooler, 174x3 track, Racers edge skid, and water to air turbo kit, and electric start was a few pounds heavier than the 146 XM when it rolled over the same scale.
I think the Etech motor has to be heavy. Great motor though.

Poo did go a bit overboard on the weight savings in my opinion, I mean what was wrong with the proven driveshaft they were running for the previous two years?

The rev was a joke, the xp was a belt blower and the 08 was a shaft blower, the sdi was a f*ckin pos and the ptek has blown its share of motors. your godly etec was not developed by brp, it was by evinrude called ficht and was bought out by brp. They failed on making the 16" wide work so they added this gimick flex track and bendy rear suspension to a long tracked trail sled and guys that have ridden both will tell you its still not on par with the pro chassis.

Get your heads out of your asses. The 800 polaris motor is more refined in 13 and now more for 14 than the 11 and 12 and they had far less problems then the garbage 800 dragon motor. They ****ed them selves with the 900 and 755, the 700 worked as larger 600 and they thought it would work as a 800 but it took years to figure it out which in turn should have been r&d years prior to release but they needed something cause they scraped the 900.

Have fun drinking your doolade but if you drank it straight from the bottle you would be drinking it from those french canadian's dinks.

Rev was a joke? Ok..I didn't like it either but please explain a little further

Xp was a belt blower....maybe...not all of them. So they blew a few belts for being 10 yrs ahead of Polaris and cat in 2008. LMFAO. Chit cat is having bigger clutch and belt problems than doo. Did in 2008. And it's 2013 lol!!!!

Ah I can't even go on this post is to far out there. Good laugh though. On par with the pro chassis. Lmao!!! Yes that stretched rush is a mountain specific chassis alright. Face palm.

But hey! Congratulations on getting your 140hp motor figured out in 2014.

And btw....the etec motor is identical to the powertek other than the injection system. Do some research before spouting off about evinrude lol!!!!!!!!! Oh no! Brp purchased an injection technology that will allow us to use less fuel and oil than cat and Polaris. What a dumb idea that was LOL!!!

The ptek is just as reliable as ANY 2 stroke motor on the market right now. They do blow up though. Being 2 stroke and all. Just sayin. You can take my ptek for a burn with 8500k on it for a spin if you like. The power might shock you. (2008 power)

hmm, Doo is more expensive, and yet outsold Poo last season.. and probably again this season..

Has polaris met the coming emissions standards?? Honest question...

Anyways...have fun in the cheap seats!!

Previous two years............. **** that drive shaft went back to 2005 or something. I gotta agree there, R and D that went no where. I weighed my 2013 stock shaft to the steal shaft with avid drivers that replaced it and it was 4-5lbs diff.
