Road the line from Nordegg to Horburg yesterday. The new part of trail from Nordegg to Harlech is very smooth and sure makes the ride faster than going on the north side of the hwy. We had to ride the ditch from Saunders to just past Misty Valley as the trail is washed out just past Saunders. The hill has given way and slid down. Anyone know of another way around so we don't have to do so much ditch riding?

The trail was good, seems to be quite solid going east. I think going west will be a different story as some of the hills are quite washed out and most likely winching up will be safer.

Anyone been out to this one recently? Going to be down that way in July and would like to try this one out, also I would really appreciate a GPS file if someone could email me one, konatodd@telus.net
thanks,

Todd

We rode all of it last year. Maps are at the gas station in Nordegg
Easy ride, well used.
Some logging has made for a few detours

Yup it’s in the works. We were out this summer collecting data so they can prefabricate sections.

Cool. Holidays are not a thing for this particular contractor lol. Do you know if they did any work on the trail from the road yet? I told them there was a few spots they wouldn’t get through with the equipment and trucks.

I just happened upon the caboose and buildings this summer, and searching the internet for more information I found this thread (6 years late!).

Very neat! I'm curious - how do you know it's a school house? I figured one was definitely a house and the other one looked more barn-like but too nice for a barn so I figured it was another house. It seems a bit remote for a school - where were the kids coming from? I love a good historical mystery and can't find much about Lamoral online.

I have ridden this rail line many times and cannot find the caboose and school house. I have been told to look for an old pair of rain pants hanging from a tree but have not found that either. Can anyone tell me where to stop on the trail to find the school house? Thanks in advance.
