Was thinking about it when I was coming home from Lethbridge today. Is there much money in doing oilfield hotshotting? I know they charge lots, but do they stay fairly busy? Thinking about trying it next summer, but don't know how much money is to be made.

Because it's such an easy thing to do it's a flooded market. So no, I wouldn't be bothered.

can't even drink a beer, coz if you say no once you may never get called again.
can you drive for 24 hours strait?
it can pay well but the phone has to ring,
how ya gunna make that happen,

Key to relative success in oilfield hotshotting:

Have a cute female driver.

Lol there's a escort business out of fox creek if I remember that is disguised as a hot shot. U make the call they come out lol

I know a guy that calls his pilot car outfit "Jim's Escort Services"....he gets a lot of calls, a lot of them unrelated to pilot car work.

Last actual hotshot I dealt with was a reasonably cute tight bodied female driver...... We all were making guesses on her looks as she "sounded hot" on the phone...... which usually ends with a moustache and 350 lbs.... But this one broke the stereotype. On the flipside she was of no help to me to move the valve out of her truck into mine.... and of course had no range orientation so she couldn't come up to the shop to unload with the crane. But was friendly and liked to talk, lol.

However a good deal of the time our "hotshots" are Barrel Taxi's........ and I have yet to see anything remotely attractive drive one of those, lol.

I seriously doubt it. Unless "us" is Redco Valve and I ordered one valve once. If this one seizes up in the next 5 or 6 years I may order another.

Nope. Have no use for anything Finning sells. We dictate the carrier, not the vendor usually. And Barrel is fast and easy so long as the parts aren't too large to carry. Probably 25 different vendors have had their parts delivered to us in a taxi cab. Redco was one of the recent times we needed an actual Hotshot company as the part was too big for a cab. No idea what the Hotshot company was called.

Oilfield services are a dime a dozen. Competition is fierce and hourly rates very drastically. Unless you have connections that will help prosper your business this venture will be a gamble to say the least. I suggest that you price a truck and trailer, insurance to cover all liabilities, and establish your C Cor expense to get a good heads up to what's involved for oilfield. I'm not trying to detour you from anything but there's alot involved with success to your venture.

There was a band aid service out of Dawson Creek that operated like this not that long ago. My first aid teacher found out about this when she was placed on site as a replacement. Man did that lady have some stories :)
