Nice Changes to 2014 XM

You're right they likely never changed a single thing just magically hooked up the wires on the 14's and they worked at idle.

Whether they increased the output of the stator at idle or robbed power from other accessories they've changed something on the 14's to get 50% power to the hand warmers at idle.

I believe Bernoff's question was whether the 13's could be changed to work at idle. I know my 13 has a hard enough time powering my boost gauge and AFR at idle so I honestly can't see the 13's being capable of the same feature.

although i agree it sucks and this would piss me off alittle bit. most sleds after the first couple rides will have some on the driveshaft. its just surface.

hold it pinned and just the ride the machine, thats what you bought it for and it wont make a difference!

Mine come with a rusty drive shaft. The dealer said it's not an issue but I'm pretty disappointed that my brand new sled with zero km's on it has rust on it. Is my dealer feeding me a line or did BRP miss the boat on the "finish" part of the fit and finish on the drive shaft? They could at least put some sort of lubrication on it at the factory so when customers receive their brand new out of the crate sled it doesn't already have rust on it.

exactly. there is either a new stator, or something is changed in the electrical system along the way in the harness/computer. wouldnt be an easy task to switch a 2013 i cant imagine.

In the hundreds of Shafts I've had out I've never seen one like that. Even with thousands if miles on it. Maybe it goes away from rotating in the snow? Or they forgot a coating process. Either way....I'd be making sure your dealer contacts brp

It could be a high strength low alloy steel used, in that case the rust on its own is its coating. There will be alloys in the metal that oxidize to protect the main metal from rusting kinda like galvanizing.

There we go. That makes sense. Still a bit strange though....I had the track out of a brand new one last year and it didn't look like that.

I contacted them as soon as I seen it and they said that BRP said that it is normal and ok. Apparently the snow will take it off but it will come back again after the sled sits because it is a bare metal drive shaft. Rust is oxidizing metal. Even if its not going to affect how the sled rides we all know how much these things cost and this is my first brand new sled i have ever purchased so I was a little put off. Oh well, I'll still ride the crap out of it this winter, can't wait for snow!!

In the hundreds of shafts I have seen since 2008 I have never seen that. And I saw over 150 in 2008 alone. Lol. I personally wouldn't be happy with that. Something stinks....

Maybe I should be trying to contact BRP directly then? At least it won't break like the pro's did last year. Lol.

I have seen rust like that a few times, IMO its not a big deal, clean it off and i bet it doesnt come back. It might disappear by itself after a ride or two.
