Hi guys. Need a new tool box at home and I’m looking for suggestions. Probably looking in the 56” range, top and bottom. I want something with a lot of drawers and double slides for full length and deeper drawers. 24” deep would be nice too. Seems like there’s a lot more options out of the states for bigger boxes than Canada. What are you guys using? Not really impressed with the Home Depot or crappy tire options. After that it’s 4-5 grand. Thanks.

I just got a Craftsman from lows and is looks like pretty good quality compared to the one I have from Canadian tire.

Yes Rona and Lows. Lows owns Rona. Lows bought the right to Craftsman from Sears before they tanked. Seems like a well built box. Costco has a cheap snap on one but not the real thing.

Your correct I heard that too, there’s just a sign at Lows that says exclusive to Lows.

Years ago when I did my apprenticeship snap on and mac offered up to 50% off, if you were an apprentice. I remember bringing a form into NAIT to get my instructor to sign as well as my employer.
Be worth checking Into whether or not they still do this. I pretty much bought most of my tools then.

correct, Mac and Snap on have programs for apprenticeship and worth checking out, try to get on the Rock and Roll snap on truck, loaded with boxes, price is in another league but so are the boxes. Bought one off Kijji years ago for a decent price, guy was retiring.
If you look at Costco online you will see more than in the stores. A few years ago l bought a box that pretty much fits your description from there and it was delivered right to my garage. I think l paid $1300.

My one tech bought a dewalt toolbox(top and bottom) from home depot few years ago... It's doing him good, and was right around a $1000

Ive been looking for a bigger toolbox for the home garage. The MasterCraft ones have gone to shat and are a lighter metal than they used to be. Reviews are pushing me towards the Husky brand at Home Depot, heavy metal and well built, but the drawers seem pretty deep having less of them kids sucks. Currently watching kijiji for an older and hopefully well maintained box.

Got a Husky brand one at work. Got it on clearance for a wicked deal. Only had it a year or so but so far so good. Snap on and Mac are great toolbox’s but they are ridiculous price. If you are a mechanic then I can see the justification to have one but to much for a backyard mechanic.

the Canadian tire, mastercraft boxes have really weak roller slides... can't put much weight in them, and if you do, you have to push the drawer in straight.

The crappy tire tool boxes certainly aren't what they used to be even 5 years ago, they are literally half the weight that they used to be. Gone are the days of finding good quality products at a reasonable price. A young cousin of mine works at a crappy tire and mentioned that when the newer boxes started showing up that they were all hand bombable vs needing to be unloaded with a forklift and pallet jack.

I just bought the exact box shown on top for $199 reg price was almost $500 on Black Friday. So far so good.

My blue mastercraft tool box that I bought 4 years ago will be changed to my electrical tool box as it is light metal and falls over when I have 2 drawers open at the same time. This new craftsman one seems a lot more rigid and stable. And has good mechanical parts and rollers. I don’t think as good as a real snap on or Mac but good enough for the home guy.

matco tools has some real nice boxes more $ than box stores but way less than the
