The MASTERCRAFT are the cheaper line. Look at the MAXIMUM line it is way better.

my ex bought me a Whirlpool 3 piece set a couple of years ago .....yes whirlpool, same as the appliances(thinking Lowes)..and it has been an excellent tool box. I have a mastercraft one as well and the Gladiator(whirlpool) is far more superior.

Are you talking a toolbox or garage cabinets? My google search reveals nothing

What did they soak you for duty? I was thinking of going down and checking out the harbour freight boxes. Lot of good things online about them and still pretty cheap. I came across TCA boxes online, nice boxes and only 20 min from my house. Only issue is price. 41" box is $1500, but the 56 jumps to $4200. ouch!

No duty if it's a product made in USA. If it's made in China they ding u. Charged gst on product value.

I just got a husky one from Home Depot (I believe) for Xmas gift quality seems quite good nice castor wheels and combination of deep/shallow drawers. Can send pics tomorrow. Drawers very smooth and nice solid wood top.

Seems like the quality of a lot of things now is considerably lower for the same dollars spent. If you aren't in a mad hurry to get a box in the next day or two, I'd keep my eyes peeled on kijiji and find something second hand in new shape for a smokin deal on something a little older with better quality. Just my $.02

Gladiator as noted above. Used to sell it at another store. Very good quality, not mechanic quality but defiantly home mech quality.
Have some at the cabin. Would definitely buy more.
Watch Big Box Stores...have some great pricing. Some is promo at cost (with small mfg kickback).

I was going to say my Mastercraft has been great, but it's about 10 years old so definitely in the older better quality, it sure isn't light. Picked up 2 huskys last year, was like $275 for 52" I believe, can't go wrong at that price. Don't use the a lot but very happy with them. Unless you use them everyday, spending thousands on a toolbox is foolish imo.
