To be correctly sized your supposed to be able to run all you appliances at once at time of take over plus a safety factor for futures. If you screw or lash down the fire pit in anyway it’s considered not portable. To be honest. Alberta is pretty cowboy. Ontario and B.C. are the other way to far. Ot sure if you stated in earlier but what BTU are you looking at for your rich mans firepit

No condo Ric. Covered deck that is bone dry Chadd. Would a quick connect hose to the contractor installed wall outlet require a permit?
Doug you do not need a permit if your connecting to your bbq outlet, the hose that comes with the fire ring will be approved for NG use and CSA approved.

I ordered an Outland Mega off of Amazon dor $159. It was going to take too long to ship so I cancelled the order and ordered one from Costco for the same price. I see that they are both sold out now! I guess I ordered at the right time! I ordered the NG conversion kit directly from Outland for $80. It was easy to install. I just have a NG outlet on the with the quick connect connection and just swap between the BBQ and the fire pit as needed. We've used it quite a few times already. It works good and throws pretty god heat once the lave rocks heat up. We even turned it on yesterday morning while we were out on the deck for coffee.

So I have a question on this subject I have a 34000 BTU fire table that I want to convert to NG. I changed the gas orifice to the NG one as my fire table came with both set ups. I was planning just to unplug the bbq when using the table. On propane the flame is approx 9” tall I ran a 36’ 1/2” gas line to the table now the flame is bairly visible on NG. I’m guessing there isn’t enough gas pressure but I’m not sure. Any thoughts?

Imo, don’t get a permit, gas fitting is not that hard, just buy the proper pipe tape and dope. Rent a threader if needed, $50 a day.

Once installed. Just say “ it was there when I moved in, I moved a rain barrel and there it was!!!”

I believe the regulator pressures are different between the 2 gases. I just cant remember what the pressures were.
Somebody on here should have more info

If it is set up like propane, with a hose that long, you might need to leave it for a while before you turn it on to pressure up the regulator so it doesn't think that it has low pressure/leak. I know with my little portable bbq, it can take a couple minutes to build up the pressure when I open the tank. If i don't wait, the bbq will barely run and hit maybe 200f

Odds are you need to remove the regulator completely if running on natural gas, but the manual for your fire table will confirm this.

Also you might need to set the air mixture, natural gas tends to want to burn clean with a blue flame, to make the yellow flames you actually have to close the air shutters some starving the mixture for air.
