You guys are right though. A few teams dominate and the rest are in it for 10-43rd.

Well since I switch from Polaris to BRP sxs I have eaten a lot of crow.

Lost a few friends

And got hooked on Doolaide.

You need to hook up with Danielle Smith and the transformation will be complete.

Just read an article on Tony. He has a burst fracture of vertabrae in his back. This will take months to heal because of the severity and with the way the Chase is structured even if he gets a win he will probably be to far back to make the top 30 in points to qualify? He just doesn't have the team that Kyle had last year to pull it off. It looks like he will be retiring without a whimper unless Nascar makes another one of there special exemptions.

Jayskis reporting Tony Stewart will have a tentative return date of May 21/16. His surgery went well and he was up and walking again a couple days ago. Get well Smoke!

Big Nascar news today. The owners finally negotiated a deal with Nascar for franchising of teams and making them Charter members to increase the teams value in the sport. 36 Charters were awarded with as guessed most going to the big teams like Hendricks, etc. Two notable teams were left off the list as teams were selected from the 2013-15 race seasons. Gibbs 19 team of Carl Edwards and Stewart Haas 41 team of Kurt Busch are without a charter membership however Rob Kaufman, former owner of MWR has offered to sell his 2 charters to those 2 teams. What does this mean on the racing surface? All 36 Charter members will be guaranteed a starting spot in all 36 point races for perpetuity. Four teams will be allowed to qualify in to the races every weekend from the leftover cars that are part timers. This now means only 40 cars will will race in every Sprint Cup race from now on. Charters are transferable to other teams but now they can be sold for a hefty price. This is what the owners wanted when they started the Race Team Alliance and it appears they have got what they needed to be sustainable for years to come in the sport. Sponsors will be more at ease with teams knowing that every Charter team is guaranteed to race every point race as long as they stay in the sport. What does everyone think of the changes and the dropping of the traditional 43 teams that have been a staple since its inception?

I think it has it's merits but not too sure about having only 4 wild cards per race. Makes it pretty tough for new drivers to get an opportunity to be seen on the big stage.
Unless they are heavily bankrolled, buy a charter and they're in.
Staying with the 43 cars and having 7 open spots would make for an easier transition I would think.

I'm a bit torn. I was just criticising them for having too many uncompetitive teams so they cut 3 of those but also justified a bunch of the other bubble teams. As Crazy8 says also just made it almost impossible for any new teams to enter the sport.

I agree Bnorth. I know the last 4-5 cars always drop out but when the economy comes around sponsors may want to jump back in and those teams may be able to make a go of it full time? Not to say Nascar may issue more Charters down the road either I guess?

Multiple sources reporting Brian Vickers will fill in for Tony Stewart in the 14 car for the Daytona 500. Nascar has yet to approve this until doctors give Vickers a clean bill of health after his previous blood clot concerns. They are also in the process of deciding if they will let him run the Sprint Unlimited this Saturday night. Eligibility is tied to the driver not the car and Tony was eligible.

Ty Dillon announced as filling in for a couple races for Tony Stewart where Bass Pro is the sponsor. Bass Pro moved the majority of there sponsorship funds to the 78 car this year with recent poor performance of the 14 car the past few years.
