1st practice is now complete for the 500 and times were all over the place as some chose to draft and some chose to do mock qualifying runs by themselves for qualifying tomorrow. Here was the top 5 fastest anyways: 19-18-20-31-13. Truex is in the 19 this year and Suarez is in the 41. Kurt is in the 1.

Daytona 500 qualifying is over and Hendricks made a statement today taking the first 4 positions with Chad Knaus showing he can still do it building William Byron the fastest car. Here is how they stacked up: 24-88-48-9-8-22-19-14-2-3. The duels are on Thursday as only the 24 and 88 cars are guaranteed. There are 42 entries for the 500 this year.

3 car chiefs have been ejected from Speedweeks this week after failing pre qualifying inspection each twice. Austin and Ty Dillon and Chase Elliott's carchiefs are gonzo.

Light rain at Daytona may affect the start time of the Clash guys. May have to adjust your PVR.

The Clash was a bust. Follow the leader racing until at the end when Johnson dumped Paul Menard for the win as rain set in. You watch the replays and you can see Menard never moved until Johnson squashed his rear fender. Oh well Nascar is fine with it so I guess we have to be. Everyone wrecked except Johnson, Kurt, and Logano. Here was the final 10 positions: 48-1-22-12-88-9-3-10-6-41

Today is Duels day at Daytona! They will set the field today for the race with 2 not making it. Should be a wreckfest like usual.

The Duels were pretty much a snoozefest with the only excitement in the first duel when Jimmy Johnson showed once again his skills are leaving him . With Kyle Busch coming up the middle Johnson for whatever reason moved 4-5 ft sideways and hooked him pretty much like he did to Menard in the Clash. Single vehicle spin but Busch wasn't taking an apologies. Here are the top 5 results from Duel 1: 4-17-21-95-19. In Duel 2 the talk was what looked like an unchallenged win for Clint Bowyer when all of a sudden Logano pulled out on the last lap from 4th and passed everyone to take the lead on the last lap. Big power move. Here are the results from Duel 2: 22-14-10-11-1

Here are the top 10 starters for the Daytona 500: 24-88-4-22-17-14-21-10-95-11. The Fords were showing all the power tonight and seem to work together well once again helping each other out.

First practice of Friday for the Daytona 500 results: 18-19-47-20-6-95-11-43-38-9. Looks like only the Toyota's were drafting for the most part in this practice as there was up to 9-10mph difference between the big Ford and Chevy guys and the Toyota's that lead practice.

Interesting second practice. Basically only Chevy's and Fords ran in this practice. Ford took 13 of the first 14 positions with only Jamie Mac breaking the convoy. Here were the top 10: 21-40-17-6-14-10-41-22-12-2-4
