Qualifying is in the books. The 18 car was the fastest but his time was disallowed after failing post qualifying tech and will start at the back of the field. Here's the new lineup: 41-1-6-31-17-4-19-3-78-44

Yep Jamie is rocking it this weekend. Fastest 10 lap average in final practice. Here were how everyone stacked up in final practice: 11-78-48-88-24-18-1-13-41-3. Looks like Hendricks found something with the new aero package?

I don't know about the rest of you but I don't care for the new "overtime" rules for NASCAR. I think they need to be modified slightly. They can still use the mark on the wall on the back stretch but I'd like to see them take the green flag and if they wreck at anytime on the green flag lap they retry. Then they take the white flag (this is where the line on the back stretch wall comes into play) if the wreck occurs BEFORE the line on the back stretch the caution waves and the race is over. If the wreck occurs AFTER the line on the back stretch the race remains green and the field races back to the finish line.

I just feel like its pointless to only give them a half a lap chance if something like today happens where the guys that took the wave around and didn't pit caused the caution after the leaders just pitted for 4 fresh tires for a half a lap. To me it doesn't make sense and to me its not fair for the fans. Something needs to change about this rule.

They changed this rule cause of how hard it was on lower end teams financially. I'm sure its still hard on them as well as any team owner. But here's another thing to think about. How does the new charter system work/help lower tier teams? In my book (and I'm guessing NASCAR's as well) it should help them land and secure sponsors if the sponsor knows they will be racing. Bringing more money to the team. More money to the team, they should be able to afford a car if they are unfortunate enough to get caught up in a final lap wreck. Most of the complaints about the old GWC finishes before were on restrictor plate tracks. NASCAR tried to help that problem but I think they hurt the fan experience and the sanctioneing body at the intermediate and short tracks.

Rant over.............
