National Guard to end all sports sponsorships at the end of this year reported today, however.......................they have a contract with Hendricks through next year HM responded today in a statement. Stay tuned. $32 mill a year is hard to replace in todays economy, even for the sports most popular driver.

Final practice over at the Glen. Here are the fast 5 drivers: 47-9-18-88-43. Petty cars are looking fast.

Gordon sandbagging? Him and Stewart are usually pretty strong on the road courses

Sent from my iPad
Tony has not had good cars all year. Gordon is strong on the road courses but I think Ambrose and Allmendinger are probably pushing hard in practice as they really only have one chance of getting into the Chase and this is their last chance.

This just in this morning........Tony Stewart will NOT be racing in today's race. He was driving sprint cars the other night and ran into a walking driver after they had an altercation. The driver died. I need to do a little more research on this as I don't know all the details. But its been reported Tony is out and Regan Smith will be in the car today.

Holy Crap!!!! Breaking News!!! Tony Stewart will not race at Watkins Glen today after being involved in an altercation with another driver last night in a sprint car race at a local dirt track. Apparently the 2 drivers got into each other and Tony put him into the wall. The driver exited his car extremely agitated and waited for Stewart to come back around under caution. He then walked towards Stewarts car waving his arms as 2 other cars swerved around him. At this time Stewart saw him and accelerated his car into the driver what appears to be on purpose from what amatuer video shows. Can you believe this? Has Stewart's anger issues finally done him in? Wow........

Just read it to on Twitter Zeebers. The guy is dead but as of yet Stewart has not been charged. Fricken crazy!

I watched the video about 20 times, no doubt Tony hit the peddle at the second he went by him, but did he purposely drive into him? Very hard to tell from the video.

Either way, a tragic event, could spell the end of his career, the fan backlash will be huge. Very sad day for the family of Kevin Ward Jr.

Im sure Tony will plead he accelerated to avoid him but there was tons of room down low to avoid him. I think he meant to scare him but mis calculated.

Tony was that way before the Busch cadets came to the sport. I agree he is frustrated. This is a sad day. Tony is one of my favorite personalities in the sport and has come along way since he entered the sport but this is the setback that will utimately do him in unfortunately.

His excuse will be he didnt see him till the last second and couldnt avoid him.

Kid was running on the track pulling a "Tony Stewart". Ironic and tragic.

Just watched the video a few times too. I'm not making excuses but in Tony's defense, it looked to me like he steered right and hit the gas trying to miss him with the back wheel. Its sprint cars guys, just think, had tony steered left hard and even if he didn't hit the gas the right rear would have wanted to kick out making the situation worse. I don't know, maybe I'm over analyzing the situation. But I think everyone here can admit the guy should not have been roaming around the track that soon after a crash especially in a black fire suit at night on a dirt track. Another thing to remember about this accident is there is no radio communication in sprint car racing. Tony had no idea the guy was standing there until it was too late. No doubt a bad day for the world of racing. I don't think any driver would use their car as a weapon on a walking person.........but using their car as a weapon on another drivers car..........absolutely. Big difference there. Thoughts and prayers go out to Ward Jr's family.
