Todays Nascar news: Mars re-ups with Gibbs and the 18 car. 3M moves to Jeff Gordon leaving Roush and Biffle after 10 years. Roush to announce new sponsors for 16 car in near future. Unconfirmed reports Subway has left Roush and is going to Gibbs. Geeez wonder whats going on there? Police say investigation of Tony Stewart accident will take another 2 weeks as witnesses interviewed and new track video's being requested from fans. Harvick crewchief fined $25000 after Watkins Glen race for unapproved weight in car not tied down. This is probably regarding the team leaving the weight bags in there after pre race inspection that forced Harvick to pit.

Actually Dupont left in a major sponsor capacity a couple years ago Woody. AARP Drive to End Hunger has been his primary sponsor along with Pepsico have been primary's for the interim. 3M will share the car this year with those sponsors.

Edwards to be named JGR 's newest driver for 2015 on Tuesday. Ryan Blaney announced as Wood Bros. new driver in 2015.

Some drivers will stay in Michigan on Monday as Nascar tests some new configurations for 2015. They will try different aero packages and test 800hp and 750hp engines using restrictor plates. All this as Nascar reduces hp in Cup cars for next year from the 850-900hp they run now.

First practice at Michigan is over. Here were the fast 5: 22-99-55-41-17. All the Roush and Penske cars were in the top 10 after Roush failed to break the mid twenties at the first Michigan race this year. They apparently found something testing to get some speed.

Nascar implements new rule this weekend where drivers must stay in there car strapped in after an accident unless there is smoke, fire or safety workers tell them they can leave. This is in response to the Kevin Ward Jr./Tony Stewart tragedy.

first Saturday practice is over and here were the fast cats this morning: 4-41-24-88-9. Alot of cars are practicing in race trim at over 200mph average speed. Amazing. Carl Edwards commented yesterday this is the fastest he has run in a race car ever for continuios laps.
