So my question is why do you guys think that the xp is the be end all to sleds when they are the hardest to throw around(besides yammies).?? Just curious.

It's all what you're used too. I'm a fairly hefty guy and have no problem laying my xp over. The cat and poo are a little to easy to toss imo.

Man these threads are so weak - so funny to see the same 5 guys preaching that the XP is God's gift to the sledding world. No wonder I find myself reading this forum less and less - definitely a lack of depth. How many of you guys actually rode before 2004 when the Rev was introduced? Be honest..... See lots of "come ride with me and I'll show you" comments - There was a thread about a "technical riding group" this last winter.....some of these self-proclaimed gurus were invited but never showed....

Everyone says their sled is the bomb and that Yammies can't turn and that Cat's feel fat etc - everyone understands their sled because its the only one you ride. Sure you can't make a yammy spin on a dime, but I know a couple guys that can, probably because they spend all season with their ass strapped to it. I don't think I've ever seen a yammy do a button hook.....except in just about every Thunderstruck from about TS 4 onward.....and from some of the guys that I ride with......Same goes for Cats, lots of good riders on Cats......you guys ever heard of this unknown rider called the Krazy Canadian? Went from old Yammy's to new Yammy's to Cats, still manages to make it up the hill....

I think that that one of the qualifying talents for being a "good rider" - is being able to adapt to change quickly. If someone's skills are limited to only riding one sled from one manufacturer, then maybe they don't have as much skill as they think. Food for thought?

Anywhere the snow is deep, and the hills are steep
My first sled I ever bought was a '94 phazer that I bought brand new when I was 12 yrs old. I worked my azz off for that sled. Evenings, weekends, all summer, never spent a dime on anything else. Put a 136x1.75 and some minor clutch and motor mods and I thought that thing was the greatest piece of machinery ever built, and couldn't ever imagine sleds ever getting better than that. Then I bought a '98 SRX mtn, and modded the crap out of that thing. Also, thought that was the greatest sled ever built, and that all others were crap, and couldn't ever imagine sleds getting better than that. I rode that thing for years because it was so awesome. Then I bought an '04 Rev 151, thats when the whole game changed..... See where I'm going with this?? As, soon as something better comes along, we'll all look back at these sleds and wonder how we ever rode them. Doesn't matter WHAT you ride, as long as you ride it!

The XP requires a little different riding style and a little more finesse to master. I never said they were the greatest sled on the snow, but most people that say they don't like them never rode one long enough to really grasp the different riding style it takes....

PS. The '98 SRX was the greatest sled ever built, and will always go down in history as one of the best 2 stroke engines ever built! So, basically this whole argument is totally invalid!!

Beats reading "Three Word Story" on "Anything Goes." Without threads like these half the peeps would ditch this site. It's all in good fun.

definitely a lack of depth - i wont get into it, but best throttle response, best power to weight ratio ( or even now ), best factory track, best factory flotation, most rider forward design ( to this day ), and smallest front end come to mind.

actually rode before 2004 - i think i was sledding before i was walking.

"come ride with me and I'll show you" comments - ya...tried a million different combinations or riders/brands etc. the summit takes the mark everytime...not that thats the most important factor either. thats only a portion of mountain riding...DO I HAVE TO PUT UP MY VIDEO OF THE STOCK PRO VS MY XP? with the same rider!

technical riding group - sweet

self-proclaimed gurus were invited but never showed - fernie is not a practicle day trip for the riders from edmonton area...therefor me and others did not show.

except in just about every Thunderstruck from about TS 4 onward - the best riders there are come from these films. but a button hook is not powering out and having your sled go over backwards on a 70 degree slope. sorry..

Krazy Canadian - again, one of my favorite riders to watch. but his style of riding is a high powered rocket. therefor any machine capable of putting out high hp in a lightweight design will work for him. obviously skidoo can not do that at the moment.

highmarking and climbing chutes is not all there is to mountain riding.

chris burandt - best rider there is IMO. FAWK MY KEYBOARD IS LOCKED IN CAPS. ANWAYS... HE RODE A CAT....NOW A POLARIS...VERY SIMILAR CHASSIS....SO OBVIOUSLY THAT SAYS SOMETHING FOR CAT AND POLARIS. THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING THE BEST RIDERS REQUIRE OF THEM. SOME OF US JUST PREFER THE XP TO DO THAT. NO BIG DEAL.

I think that that one of the qualifying talents for being a "good rider" - is being able to adapt to change quickly. If someone's skills are limited to only riding one sled from one manufacturer, then maybe they don't have as much skill as they think - THIS IS INTERESTING. A FRIEND OF MINE THAT I RIDE WITH MOST WEEKENDS RIDES A XP. HE SOLD IT TO SNOWCHECK AND BORROWED A DRAGON FOR ABOUT A WEEK OF RIDING. HE COULD PUT THAT DRAGON IN ALMOST THE SAME SPOTS AS HIS XP. BUT STILL HATED IT AFTER A WEEK. HAD A FEW COMPIMENTS ABOUT IT BUT OTHER THAN THAT WAS HAPPY TO HAVE HIS XP BACK. I THINK EXPERIENCED RIDERS CAN HOP ON ANY OF THE NEW SLEDS AND DO AMAZING THINGS WITH THEM. BUT THEY STILL WONT BE COMPLETELY COMFORTABLE...WHY I DONT KNOW?

who said the easiest sled to throw around was the best sled?

its stable not sloppy. i would hardly consider it HARD TO THROW AROUND...PERHAPS JUST REQUIRES A STRONGER FLICK OF THE WRISTS.

THATS JUST MY OPINION.

APARENTLY THEY WORK GOOD ON DIRT TOO ;)

depth - meant technical depth

yeah - we all rode before we walked. I was doing handstands at 3 months old.

comments - sure, post the vid of your alleged "stock" XP vs a real stock sled. everyone here knows you don't have any tweaks on your ride. My buddy has a stock Nytro too.

tech ride - never happened in Fernie that I know of, only the one in Golden.

button hook - not sure what you're talking about because I see lots of guys on all types of sleds busting them out while going downhill, maybe you guys should search Rasmussen on the internet....

fawk the rest of it, if you think that the Krazy Canadian is only about the climbing, he's pretty local, maybe you want to call him up for a ride?

Now here's what I really want to know: If there was a 3 way wrestling match between Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal and Jean-Claude Van Damne, who would be the celebrity referee?

obviously krazy canadian can do more than go up hills...and across them....the mans nuts and has skills. all im implying is a doo would not work for him since it makes 150hp max and is impossible to squeeze the extra 100hp he needs out of it.

i dont know how to prove to you that my sled is in fact 90% stock with the exception of the 2.5 track. but the pro has a 2.4" so that .1 of an inch should hardly make ANY difference is what ive been told? :)

i run stock head, stock pipe, stock can, stock skid, stock shocks, stock airbox, stock gearing, fawk i even have STOCK clutching! and apparently it sucks?

i also have 6500km and about 100psi of compression. i dont even think ive cleaned it since i bought it.

BUT WAIT. i have billet wheels....game over...

its alright though. i ordered a 2012 cat just to change it up.

Lucky for me I can make any sled dance. When I rode cats they were the most stable for me.I loved my cats since 1976 And polaris felt very similar and comfortable. But when I hopped on a rev it would do what I wanted I just struggled more. Now I ride a nitro turbo and my friends rev is fun to play on and the cat and Polaris feel weird. I will say that now I like the position of the nitro/rev rider forward and don't wanna go back. Maybe the new cat is the answer. It should handle more like the xp/rev chassis. Without the shitty engine life of a doo. I work hard and have the fortune to have a dozen sleds eAch season in my garage and they are all fun!!! Like everyone says. Its about the powder and the fun. Whatever it takes
