What do you prefer? What do you think works better? I'm in the market for new gear and want to know. Currently I'm wearing Carhart rain gear and Dakota winter boots, it works fairly well but it's heavy and does get damp.

Both are high quality with a loyal following. However, you will be all Johnny Cash out there just like everybody else. It would be nice if they offered something other than black.

I have Klim pants, gloves and a jacket. Just bought MF boots this weekend and loved them. Buy what fits right and enjoy, I think both are pretty close to equal for quality.

My group has owned both. They both work the same for dryness and keeping your body temperature normal.

I wear my coat everyday, I dont get hot in stores and don't get cold with just a t shirt under it up to -15 -20. It's neat stuff.

I have the 2012 MF stuff and its black/ grey and the grey turns to brown depending on the light. They do have red as well but if you want different Colors your going to have to look at klim.

Non insulated. I wear just thin long sleeve and pants under around zero. Today was minus 10 and I was just wearing a t shirt fleece pants and sweater under. Any colder I wear long jons and fleece pants. Long sleeved shirt fleece sweater and a fleece jacket under. Was fine like that at -25.

Pants are Klim, boots and helmet are Motor Fist, both are great, buy whatever's on sale

Same here - Motorfist boots rock - and the Klim Pants are awesome. MF helmet - I'm not convinced yet.

Best thing I ever bought were those Klim pants.

Do you guys have the insulated stuff or just the shells?

Where you are riding, just the shells will work just fine. Polyester underneath and polyester only! Forget the cotton anything.

I use the thinnest wicking layer and one layer of Mark's fleece (WindRiver) until it is -20C. Colder than that I normally don't ride but if I doo a heavier top fleece and I'm good to go. You don't see temps that cold out there so non-insulated shells will be all the doctor called for!

Pick good base layers then buy whats a good deal and fits you best. I have Klim boots, Motorfist pants, Scott Jacket and 509 helmet. Mish mash of brands and love them all.

was down at dootown, and was lookin at the new doo coats, lifetime warranty, good price, water proof and breathable. an option a bud bought yhe set and is very pleased, although u need to layer underneath.

i have the older reima tech pants and coat for almost 12yrs now. can't see myself giving em up. still like new, water proof, breathable and i have tested em big time probably more than most, have used them for swimming, dryed out in an hour or so, wasn't cold although got back to truck before sun went down.

lol I love when threads like this pop up.

Motorfist or Klim?

YES

In my opinion those are the two premiere brands on the market today. We've worn Motorfist for 3 years now and Love everything. I have preferences within the line up offered by Motorfist.
I really really Love the Rekon Pants. Super Durable totally waterproof, never a wet Bum. Love the Stomper Boots, in them I find myself gravitating towards the redline socks more than the motorfist socks. I love that they are wicking yet still cushy. I can wear either sock, (the motorfist sock is thinner) and be completely warm and dry. I have tried the empress gloves, The superior gloves, the Valkyries and The Wots. In my opinion the WOT and Valkyries are by far the best offered by motorrfist. Durable, yet totally waterproof, my hands are always warm. My outer Jacket is the Trophy. It is not made of Event like my pants, but it is waterproof, breathable, and looks funky. My midlayers I still love my hydrphobic fleece. I have a set of the Teton fleece, which is still a tad too warm to wear for me when we're out shredding, it is, however perfect for the days I need extra warmth hanging outside with the kids, it's just for riding the Hydrophobic fleece is perfect, keeps me warm and wicks away my sweat. My base layers are Motorfist, and I also have the Polaris Baselayer. They are both made of Cocona fabric, (coconuts!) Wicks away and keeps me warm!!! Perfect!
I have a TLD Helmet, which is sexy and Awesome. Love it, and Smith Goggles, which I freakin Adore!! We get lots of overcast days over here and I just find for my eyesight the smith Yellow lens is by far the brightest of all the ones I've tried.

I hope that is high quality wicking t-shirt, like any active wear. Under Armour, etc... or else all it is doing is holding on to moisture and your fleece won't even get a chance to wich moisture away.

Agreed, except I don't agree with Polyester only. There are lots of great wicking materials out there. 100% Polyester is a champ at being really smelly.

What I wear personally. For anything above -10: Under Armour or Nike Pro Combat (which ever is clean) compression shorts and long sleeve shirt. I then put on my body armour (Fox Titan shirt, padded shorts, and knee/shin guards) I then throw on a jersey of some sort (just to provide a layer between my armour and jacket) and then my TOBE shell jacket and pants. Very thing wicking ski socks and Klim boots.
Anything below -10, or for riding up and down the trail I'll throw on another base layer pant by TNF or Patagonia, and a light fleece layer over my armour).

Layering is key, as you never know what the day is going to unfold like. I bring along a lightweight down jacket I can throw under my shell for really cold rides up and down the trail, or when I'm stopped for lunch.

i find the fox titan protection the best thing i have bought lately. fits like a glove and no excess bulk. great armour.

Motorist all the way, best warranty in the business and super quality stuff, I'm head to toe and it's far better than my Klim was
