Most Flickable Sled

Nimble, Motocross Style Sled?

My last sled was an 02 RMK 144. I'm looking for a mountain sled again. I've been out of this game for so long I'm not even sure what's what now.

I am leaning towards a Ski-doo as I'm thinking it would be like riding a dirtbike rather than sitting on it. But a few of those in the past years have been problematic with clutches etc. I'm thinking the shortest track I'd want is 154".

I'm going to be looking for a used sled so what year and make is the easiest to ride? I'm not 20 anymore but definitely not 60 like CJS. Thanks.

Ahh jeez. Well, the pro rmks are pretty easy to ride, so are the new doo's so I've heard. Both are good
Sleds, you really Can't go wrong with either. What about a Cat, no yes? 154 and 155 are a good size for the hills, or even a 163 depending on your weight and riding style.

If possible ride both and see which feels best for you. Go newer than 2011, and you'll have a great sled. Both the Polaris, and the doo have awesome power. The Polaris is the only sled I've ridden where my feet have fallen asleep while riding it.

A 2012 ETEC is an awesome machine. Really good stock clutching.

I wouldn't go any smaller than a 163, personally.

I'm 5'10 and 185. My riding style is semi-aggresive and like to play in the deep stuff. Climbing the insane shoots are not my style although I do like to climb. I feel like I need room. I'd rather play it safe and keep my sled in one piece if I didn't make it. I like the trees somewhat but stayed out of the hairy stuff due to the chassis I was on before. I didn't find it great in the trees. I like the looks of the AC newer sleds. Two of my buddies have a new Pro and a new Doo. But I wouldn't be able to try them out unless I was out riding with them. I'm sledless.

welcome back my vote is a skidoo i'm not a brand loyal guy they just seem to have the least problems and good on fuel and u can get parts if u ride in valemont
2011 and newer have the narrower ski stance

According to the interwebspace, the Polaris Pro RMK is the most flickable sled on the market.....they had some driveshaft issues which were fixed by a recall from Polaris with a free jug of oil and a Klamp. Its a supersled.

I would recommend renting an new Doo xm..you did mention your gonna buy used though so maybe thats not the answer.

Go to and you can at least try the Summit XM for free. There are demo rides all through BC but time slots are filling fast. All you need is a snowmobile suit and yourself. They will supply the sled and avy gear and a guide to tour the group around and answer your questions. Not sure what the other manufacturers have going. Maybe check with a dealer?

Can anyone tell me about the Sno pros? Is the M8 any good? I see quite a few ads for M1000's and Skidoo 1000's. more power but more weight. Do I ignore all the 1000's and stick with 800's? I found a 2009 M1000 that is decently priced. Stay clear or?

The new AC sleds sure look good to me but haven't rode one.

Doo 1000's stay away i would say!!not sure about the AC 1000

I know you said used, but the XM is extremely flick able and awesome for sidehilling. The T-motion and flex edge track work exactly how they're supposed to.

I know that T-motion works, and works well, but I've been curious about that flex edge track. The idea seems like it should work, but does it? Just seems like a track with 2.5" paddles running all the way to the edge would have those paddles acting like an I-beam stiffening the track. I haven't had a XM on its edge on a showroom floor and taken a good look at the track. How much does it flex? I'd also be curious to see if it actually flexes in snow (obviously harder to see).

Sure does ill try and get some vid this wknd. Doesn't show up much on conc but on the snow with a rider on it you can sure see and feel it working

Thanks Maxwell. My buddy threw a T-motion skid on his 11 XP, and it made a massive difference to it. It'd be interesting to see how much of a difference it would make adding a Flex Edge as well.

I'd love to think I could buy a new XM. It's a little more than I care to pay right now.

If you can wait for spring there will be 2013 year sleds for sale as guys that get a new sled every year will be selling.

my only experience on a cat is on my 2013 m8 pc 162. coming from a rev i find it quite nimble and easy to throw around. piles of power and hooks up awesome, although the snow i was in a piece of sandpaper had hook up ;) . but i'm 6'5" and 230lbs so rider/handle bar position can be different. i do like the telescoping riser, its the only stock sled i've stood on that has bars high enough for me.

but i guess that might not matter to you. i've never had an oppourtunity to ride a pro or the xm so all i can say is i love my cat. just hope cat hurries up with the recall for the rail caps.
