I have my eye on a couple 2009 SnoPro 1000's. Do I dismiss those and look at the M8's?

I'm not in a huge hurry but wouldn't mind a little spring riding once work slows down.

I don't know much about the 1000's. "Pipes" a member here, and I have ridden with him lot's has a 10 - 1000 and it works great for him. He is also around your size
"medler" has a 10 HCR 800 and his gf, has his old 09 M8. He can make both sled turn on a dime, and climb like a mofo.

I think, like everyone has said...... Try to get out and rent or borrow a sled or 3, to try the different chassis's.
I know it won't be untill the end of March, But I'll be selling my 10 Dragon 800 155

Doo I see an XM in your signature for next winter????????

Couldn't resist that one Doug #1……..

I would like to try one for a few hours..... I loved my 97 Summit and my 04 HME

But I also love my Iguana.... The IQ chassis is very forgiving and that 800 makes gobs of torque :D

My 2000 RMK was a great sled, and even better after Mountain Magic kicked it out to a 151

They're a good reliable sled too. They make amazing power once you pipe them, clutch it and put a fuel controller on but they do require a bit of tuning to keep them running in its peak.

So stay away from the Doo 1000 but the Cat is okay?

How much heavier can the Cat 1000's be over the 800's? Same chassis with what looks like the same motor weight.

Most flickable ? Well, as a Pro rider, I can tell you that my sled is merely flickable where an XM is "effortlessly flickable".

If you are getting a 2009 cat i would go with the 1000 the 800 doesn't have the power, but the 2010 M8 with the HO motor is supposed to have the same hp as the 1000. the 2010 M8 would be my choice of an older sled. Rode my cousin's M1000 with a 174 track on it for a day it worked well but my sled at the time was a 2003 900 MC. I have a 2013 Pro climb now and love it I thought i was was going to ride my 900 for ever but i'm glad I made the change.

I have my eye on a 2008 M1000 162". Is this going to feel nimble enough? Will it feel like a tank in the deep stuff. I'm coming off a 2002 RMK 800 144". How will they compare? I don't have the cash to buy a new one or I would. Gotta do what I can and still ride. Also I'm seeing a price of 7-8g roughly for these. What is this one worth? Motor is stock. Stock pipe. Has a Y pipe and can. 1100 miles. Any opinions? All are welcome.

Stay clear of the 1000, the m8 is lighter and power is similar, the 1000 motor is hit and miss with early detonation, I have rode many 1000's and my 8's are a lot nicer all around, the torque of the 1000 is nice but not worth the difference. The 162 is a nicer length and the handling will be much nicer than your vertical escape, this is just my opinion but for 8 you should be able to find a 10/11 m8 with the 800ho motor and be happier all around and have a reliable machine. I have tried mild mod to turboed 800/1000 cats and my favorite is still my 11 with no motor mods, running board inserts, skis, and a clutch, always pull and go, no bs with aftermarket controllers etc

Thanks guys. This is the input I need.

That being said, I've started another search.

Now when you say 10 or 11 M8, what's the difference in power from the 09's? I found a real nice 09 with lots of extras but still a stock motor. And the price is less than the newer ones of course.

2009 m8 has 140hp 2010 m8 has 160hp feels like a huge difference when riding them IMO.

How would a full custom mod 400 lb sled handle?

I used to work close to Mountain Magic back in the day when I was sledding and spent a fair amount of time at Kens. Watching his builds come together was awesome. But those were 02 and 03's. Mostly Edges and Summits. How do you think those sleds would compare to some of the newer stuff?

Any of those 2008 or 2009 are worth $6,000.00 to $7,000.00 maximum regardless of the mileage.

A 2008 what? Full mod?

I was asking how they handle? Of course I'll assume whoever answers knows and not just saying.

So what's an 02-04 edge chassis full mod with a BB worth? Is it even something I should consider buying?

I also found a brand new 05 King Cat 162". Yes it's new. 1 ride on it. 4200.00 But you guys kinda have me spooked on 1000's.

As you can tell, I'm very undecided. I have about 7-8g to work with.

I just don't want a POS problem sled. I can wrench so that's not the issue.
