Have the 4 1/2-5 and this 4 1/2-6". Both stand up to heavy grinding. I never touch a corded grinder unless I run out of battery. I would have burned out a corded grinder a long time ago with abuse these take. They are not the same as the old cordless grinders. They need the big batteries to perform though. I only use the 6 and 8 amp batteries.

Best to have a bunch of grinders so you dont have to switch out atachments.

No heavy grinding just a DIY'r nice to have a cordless grinder for various projects in my arsenal, for cutting, sharpening, grinding light duty metals if need be. I have to agree though the new Forge batts are the bomb and would only need the 6.0 to run on most HD tools. That will be my next purchase as well is 1 of those as they are still a bit pricey. Got a good price quote on the grinder though so i think i will grab 1 as they are up there as well. Saw the tests on batts and HD tools on TT channel was very good as well, slowly have converted batts to HO's and will likely end up owning a 2 of those forge's soon enough. Thanks for the reply.

I'm paying $277 tax in on the 6.0 Forges right now in Sask, I would think you guys in Alberta should be able to get them less. I'm Really hoping they release a 3.0 Forge here soon, I have a bunch of 6-7 year old 5.0's that are starting to get tired. I have heard there is a 12.0 Forge coming out this fall for all the Heavy duty power hungry tools in the M18 line. Also hearing $500+for that battery.

Also the 6.0 Forges run the Lawn mower way way better than the original 12.0's

Yes they have an 8.0 now and the 12 very soon. But geeze it better be a 3/4 or 1 impact to run that batt, the 6.0 forge will run my 1/2 HT impact like no tomorrow, it will put out what the old 12 would do. and then some. Personally a 8 or 12 forge better be getting used heavy or in a stationary tool because it's heavy.

As everyone says for convenience and a quick job the cordless grinders are great but if you're doing anything more than that go get the corded makita 5" rat tail.

Milwaukee wont let there dealers advertise any less than MAP. minimum advertised price, that is stated right on KMS, however you can get better deals if you inquire.

Well they released a buncha cool chit today.... Forge 8.0 and 12.0 batteries, double battery 20" chainsaw with 70cc equivalent power. Som other double battery gadgets. Lots more packout add-ons. They also released a little 3/8 drive M12 impact that's capable of 550ft/lbs of torque...

Ohh id guess the big 12 will be $450ish at most places. That 8.0 should be $300ish.

I can get a 20inch gas chainsaw on amazon for 200$.

i dont see the value in 450$ batteries for cordless tools

I worked in a shop for years… dragging around an airline is a PIA. Cordless tools are game changers.

I also GC my own home build, witnessed all the trades packing extension cords or setting up air compressors and lines. Again, cordless tools in that industry is also a game changer.

If it needs a 450$ battery different story.

Ie chainsaws, lawn mowers. Ill get the gas job every time...

Greenworks chainsaw and lawnmover are not too bad, you have to change the batteries often though. The chainsaw is about a 45cc gas, and the lawnmower just walks through the grass...and batteries especially if you use the drive option.

1500$ for a lawn mower that barely competes with a 200$ gas job until it needs a charge.

For the amount i use it will last 20 years.
Could go get a husky for the price of that battery though.

Have fun charging 5 times unless your yard is tiny.


They make electric cars these day too.

I bought a fancy milwakee light and expensive battery(so i could get a full day out of the battery on 1 charge) for a low rise job Where i would have had to run 500 feet of cord.

I get it they do have thier place.


But yep a miter saw, especially when im only using it at home is going to have a cord 100%
