Is there a gate at Lucille? Only ever ridden there once so can't remember.

A year like this, renshaw would hold a lot of snow for some late spring riding I would think, but the gate gets closed sometime in April if I'm not mistaken and stays closed so you can't get trucks by

I don't think there is a gate at Lucille or Belle. We use an open 2-place trailer, and when we go up at Belle, we take the old trail. The switchbacks on the new trail are usually very tight for the truck and trailer, and water on them makes them too soft. So the old way up Belle, and if we start getting soft or muddy, we stop and ride from there. Don't want to tear up the road/trail and ruin it for anyone else. Lucille is easier to get up in the spring. Just need to be careful with the creek and water crossings. Mind you we watched a guy with a 2wd Chev hammer through an ice dam drainage that we didn't cross in my 4x4! Ha!

Only a couple inches of new snow since last weekend! Still lots of untouched out there if you"re not afraid to go find it!
Never afraid. Might stick to the meadows though. The wife is pretty new. Still beats a weekend of not sledding though

We came up from vale and rode Renshaw today. Trail in was awesome, about 30 sleds up there today I would guess. 4-5" of fresh in the open, and much, much more in the trees, with the best found being able to see the cabin.

All and all another great day of sledding.

These pics were taken at the too of a ridge and do not show the true snow depth.

We had a wicked day in Renshaw today, we rode fresh tracks all day, about 8” of fresh on the back side, anthills, etc, still lots left, I didnt want to leave, it not often yah have fresh snow, bluebird, and the ability to get around easily to explore new places, best yet we didnt see a sled till we went back to the cabin at the end of the day.

I have a question, its been while since I have been In renshaw and there seemed to be alot different opinions on what the names are called of certain places.

If you come down over the saddle and the anthills are on your left, what is the correct way to get to spirit lake From the saddle? Is it the drop right in front of you coming down the saddle, when you turn left to get to the anthills, or right to get to renshaw lake???

Another question is, the spot where the guys got buried in the avy a few years ago and there is a monument on a tree with there names on it, whats that valley called, and there is a lake not far from there on the other side of the ridge. What do the locals call that lake. Snochuk????

Ive been shown and rode the area alot years ago with BBtoys, Rknight111, but I have never been to spirit and I thought I had a good memory on the names of these places, but after today I would like some clarification please. Photos too would help if yah have them.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Definitely nothing to complain about in terms of snow. Lots to be had if you get off the beaten path. I had a blast at lucille despite a massive stuck in the trees. Big thanks to the guy that lent a huge hand.

Hey caper11...everybody seems to have different names for different hills.
The hill with the monument our group has always called that Matilda Hill.about 15 or 20 years ago, there was a homemade sign at the base of the hill in the tree with the name Matilda on it so that name has always stuck with us...

We rode Lucille again on Saturday. Still decent snow out there. Played in the butterfly for quite a while. A lot of the easy areas got pretty pounded down, but there is still good riding to be had for those who aren't afraid to put a few km on the gauges.
