March Conditions

Was going through golden on wed. with sled on deck. Rc stopped me and first place he went was to back of deck to see how I had sled rear skid tied down. Had a rachet strap from deck over rails back to deck. Passed that, ( 175.00 fine for not have tied down properly) then to front of truck and i have no cover on my light bar. A no no.. Put tape on and was good. No tickets. Now I'm glad he didn't waste anymore of my time, BUT he never ask to see any prove that sled was mine. With all the stolen sleds I wish that would have been the first thing he did.

I'm guessing he looked at your drivers/insurance/registration. Not a lot of thieves just take the sled. Mostly the whole unit. Wouldn't fault him on that one.

Golden is the only place I’ve been pulled over with a sled deck. I was just passing through to Revy.

My understanding is they want two points of contact both front and back on sleds superclamp in front and dual straps in the back should be enough?

A little off topic but my group has been riding Valmount past 4years in March this year figured we would head to Mcbride my question is how is access to parking lots for trailers or sled deck do u need chains for any of the parking access points ? Looking more for renshaw and bell not much for tree riding yet like I heard Lucile but any information would be helpful

Very similar to Valemount. Maintained roads leading right to staging areas. Renshaw has two "levels" to the staging area, both are easily accessible. Belle has a little bit of a grade driving up to the staging area but shouldn't be an issue with trailer or deck assuming you're not running bald mud tires

Bell is a good hill and can be slick after a big dump or rain. If you have a big trailer it might be hard to get moving again if you ever had to stop for some reason.

If you’re going to belle plan on being there early to be able to turn your truck and trailer around before it gets too full.
If you go to renshaw there i’s plenty of easy parking and the area is large and has varied skill level areas.

Belle can be slick going up at times. We've gotten hung up with **** tires and a 4 place enclosed. Best to have chains and not need em than need them and not have em. Renshaw and Lucille are generally zero issue.

Some pictures of riding last weekend with Higgins and Hot Rod.
Excellent snow conditions and just a ton o fun.
Rode hard Friday and burned all gas - had to share what was in the spare cans.
Saturday was a distance run to well past Spirit and some playing in the trees.
Lots of untouched and as much snow as ever right now at McBride!
Heading back in two weeks.

We took the family’s up for their first mountain trip and had a blast. The old Triples got a work out. Even ran into Rod and Higgins
I think I witnessed the birth of a couple mountain Sledders. Lol

. It was great to see the kids enjoying the mountains and the views

We Rode Renshaw Friday and Lucile Sat. A big Thanks goes out to Hot Rod for building the toboggan run. We all had a blast ripping down that thing for hours !!
We took a midnight rip up Lucile. Headed up to the top of the big hill past the cabin. The full moon was amazing and made for some cool pics.

I'm not sure who told you that Lucille was more tree riding. We find Lucille to be a lot more of varied terrain than Belle. I think Lucille is better than Belle, but others may disagree. Just don't count it out. I really think you need to check it out for yourself. All 3 areas in McBride are different from each other and all have pros and cons. The short drive to the staging area and the short quick trail to the alpine at Lucille is hard to beat! Have fun!

Renshaw is great paved road until about 10km from the parking area and always cleared to the lots very low grade increase. Our first time up Belle was th is weekend and was a little sketchy . Although we had a dodge dually with a 30' enclosed trailer. Truck has brand new tires and 650hp and it was working to get everything up to the 5km parking lot. Climbs about 300m in that distance. Attached is the turn off to Belle as we missed it the first time.

I agree, Lucille is an awesome riding area, lots of hidden gems that can provide hours of fun and seldom see others playing in. Great for the half day ride before the drive home.

For sure! We always seem to find a little more every time we go there. And I was talking with some locals and they were telling us of some great spots at Lucille and Belle we never knew about. I'm sure a lot of the veteran McBride riders know about them! We always do a half day or a couple half days at Lucille. And our spring rides too. Last year we hit Lucille May 29th. +25C and in a T-shirt! Had a BBQ up top, couldn't be better!

Is there a gate at Lucille? Only ever ridden there once so can't remember.

A year like this, renshaw would hold a lot of snow for some late spring riding I would think, but the gate gets closed sometime in April if I'm not mistaken and stays closed so you can't get trucks by
