I belong to 2 clubs and have been heavily involved in both for......well, forever.......but if you tell me I HAVE TO belong to be on this forum I'll be gone faster than you can say goodbye. We still live in a democracy and I'd really rather have members in our clubs that WANT to be there than members that are FORCED to be there.

just trying to get a conversation going on how to get people involved in the club level as there seems to be a serious burnout happening, and i was wondering who is going to keep the show going , or does it really matter?

it matters, just hard to keep the enthusiasm up, seems to be way to much work, small rewards, and always someone to bitch, complain and destroy what you have done. when it is gone it is gone, we need some enthusiasm or something to get motivated,

Well one thing in Alberta here. What's the point cause mother nature can't keep the white gold long enough to ride it let alone have a club work.

I could have joined the David thompson snow riders but they haven't even had a real trail for 2-3 years

I've been an executive in our club as well as an ASA member for the last three years. I've ridden our own trails once. there is plenty of work to be done even in a low snow year, this year we have planned and secured another trail for our area. it will snow again next year....and the year after that.....

I rode Kakwa last weekend, I have an ASA pass that enables me to ride the groomed 40 km trail into Kakwa lake. I paid my $30 dollar trail fee to the gate attendant anyways. I was happy to support the work the Swan City club has done.

Was kinda thinking over the last few days, weeks, months, and years, about the local sled clubs that are finding increasingly hard to get people on board to carry the clubs forward, and even getting involved at directors levels. So i thought since sites like have technically become virtual clubs per say, with some members voicing there concerns postively and negatively. It would be a great idea if Ron could work it, is that you had to join a local club or club at a area you ride at, the club you belong to was in your profile and position held ( member or excutive) before you can post, complain, bitch, commend or thank on-line. I believe it would unite all sledders wherever your home base is to keep the sport going, cause you're going to need local clubs or it's going to be soon a virtual club, with virtual dealers, in virtual areas, with virtual riders on wei! Any thoughts?

Have you been smoking crack? Even though I join 2 clubs every year and only ride 1 of them I think this is one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard. Some of the people on here don't snowmobile anymore for whatever reason but still want to keep up on the latest gossip or to just enjoy the vids and pictures posted here, you expect them to join/support a club even though they don't ride? Should I join a ski or hiking club just because I occasionally browse Clubtread to see some great scenery photos? Not gonna happen.

If I join the local clubs in areas I ride in I pay 5 bucks for a trail pass instead of 15 if I'm not a member I'll take the extra 10. Chit seems the areas I've been hangin have a hard enough time gettin along with themselves within the club. I had herd 2 clubs were in Fernie now after some infighting over the winter not sure? BCSF couldn't agree and keep together so now there are 2 groups BCSF and ABC?

Snow and Mud does already give back to the motorized community. Some of the profits from our 2 events per year gets back to support what we do. MM4 gave VARDA $1200.00 MM5 gave Fernie Snowmobile Assocaition $1375.00 and the summer campout has helped Tri-County Snowmobile Club, We have also given money to the Canadian Avalanche Association and helped raise funds for a little sick girl, and a couple of horses. ALL with your help. Thank-you

I see that Snow and mud is now an ASA corporate sponsor as well. Right on Ron.

maybe it is time for all clubs to have a social media coordinator? Revelstoke has one but that is about it AFAIK.

BTW, I always purchase a Calgary Snowmobile Club membership at the show but didn't this year. There was no show in Calgary. If they are going to make it hard for me to join, I am so lazy that I probably won't join.

Next year, I will probably just join the Cranbrook club or Revelstoke.

THE CROWSNOW RIDERS have it set-up so you can purchase your trail passes online doesnt get much easier than that

my feelings only, if it costs money, and has very little immediate gratification, you may as well pull teeth. i look at it like threads on this forum, certain people generate a following, good or bad, others look towards them for some guidance as such, if everyone starts to see these people listing a club they belong to. others will also start joining, as in follow the leader, may not be noticeable right away, but will eventually. example, suds buds at first couldn't get more than 3-4 people out, now we should sell tickets, not sure why, must want to see my fat azz fail. good people, like minded, having fun, just my thoughts, i'm usually wrong.
