I Posted on the other thread regarding the same issue. All I can say is how could this even become an issue if anything comes of this it will only lead to a bigger argument on more snowmobile restrictions. I just want take the time and thank who ever dug this guy out last march.

Like it's not bad enough what naturally happens in the back country you gotta add this kinda chit to the mix. I feel for the Revelstoke peeps that are affected by this bs. They do a great job and have a community support setup that works very well and provides as safe a situation as you can get for mtn sledding. I don't think the suit has alot af merrit. The Revy sled club and assosiations have as I understand a tenure that allows them to groom access and charge trail access fees. That does not in any way translate to the clubs or the assosiations having to police the parking lot and staging areas and not permit access. so as far as the club and assosiation are concerned I'm pretty sure there clear. As for sueing the event coordinator well it had nothing to do with the event and happened after the fact. That has been investigated and documented reported in the press. Just sad that these peeps are gonna have to pay out good money to defend themselves from this dirt bag.

Having been on the receiving end of a number of law suits over the years the most unfortunate part of this is what OOC ZigZag says at the end. Even though organizations like the Revy sledding club will likely be found not culpable in this law suit they will have to spend a considerable amount of time and money defending themselves against a frivolous law suit because not defending yourself is not a good decision. One can always try and recover those costs from the plaintiff afterwards but by the time it is all over you are so tired of lawyers and courts you do not have the stomach or the money left to go after the plaintiff.

Well I'm starting to think this might be a way we can all help out a little bit. How about a ride in Revy in the next couple weeks and see if we can't raise some funds and help out the clubs with legal costs. That way they might not have to use funds that were alocated to trail and infrastructure and not to defending themselves from dirt bags.:d

This has the potential to affect every club in the province, if not the country. A win, or an out of court settlement "should" have every club re-evaluating what we're doing as volunteers and how much risk of litigation we're willing to accept. Even if he loses as most of us expect to happen, dealing with the litigation is still a huge burden in time and money on the club members and volunteers who work to try to improve our recreational enjoyment. What's next? We leave a bump when grooming, someone blames it for going off the trail, and we're facing a lawsuit? Looks to me like it's becoming very dangerous to be on the executive of a snowmobile club in B.C.

That is the sad reality no cabins no grooming and not much for infrastructure everyone for themselves and no one wants to accept liability welcome to lawyers rule the world.

this just makes me sick.......we need to figure out a way to get this guy and his lawyer to read what we as sledders feel about this douche canoe.....anyone know what court house this will be in? I hope to he!!there is no out of court settlement on this.......he just wants some easy money.......black ball him from all hills! I would like to see the local papper ask us sledders about this guy and the lawsuit! we as sledders know that when we enter the back country......we do it at our own risk!

Would be nice to know when the court hearing is so we could organize a welcoming committee for this clown and his puppet lawyer. Maybe he'd get the picture that he is not welcome on our hills anymore.

when you purchase a ticket it clearly stats you are entering the back country at your own risk. I thought the BIS ended early because of the avy warnings?
