problem with the prisons in the far north is staffing them and prisinor transportation costs.....
I feel we are way too easy on our convicted felons but we have to consider the lifestyle and safety of the prison staff.... unfortunately we would never be able to get away with a unstaffed dump in situation.
A lot of money could be freed up by imposing creative sentenses for non-violent, white collar and minimum secutity prisionors, work camps, community betterment etc...
Far as the high risk, 3 strike, dangerous fellons further isolation with no priviledges such as visitation, cable, schooling, communications etc could be done but it could not be so isolated as to punish staff... some people deserve to die no matter what the bleeding heart rights activists say... Karla Holmolka is free and living in Ontario with a young child concieved in the prison system, after the suffering and torture her and Paul Bernardo inflicted on minors niether of them deserve to walk this earth
Young offenders do not fear the justice system knowing that the system will ensure thier rights and allow them to serve minimal time in a comfortable setting....
Bogs... i have worked in remote far north isolated regions since i was 16
if thousands of canadians ALREADY do it, so can prison staff.... you'll just need a bit bigger staff 1/3 bigger to be exact
i ultimately believe in making prisoner work and give back to the society they've taken advantage of... you took away or infringed on someone elses rights mean you GIVE UP yours, no tv, no education unless they can PAY for distance learning that they can do on their FREE time, and slave labour all around doing labour work
bring back the chain gangs
