Sorry to revive this old thread. I am currently leaning toward the Truck Boss to leave on all year round because it seals the box like a tonneau cover... are any other decks "seal-able", I know a lot of them seem to have a sizable gap between the bed rail and the deck that will allow dust and snow and road salt in... Lots of gravel in the summer so a good seal in the bed is important to me... Also, what have you guys been doing in terms of sliding cargo racks underneath? Thanks,
Dave

Marathon is the only one I found that works like a tonneau cover sealing the box it also has a complete aluminum deck no plywood. Marathon builds a box that slides in and out underneath the deck if desired. Unfortunately I have no idea how much it costs but I as well think it would be very handy. I had a Marathon Classic previously and it sucked when your stuff ended up in the back of the box you either crawled in or had a rake or something to pull the stuff out. I'm currently in he market for the Truckboss and may consider pricing the drawer out.

I heard the truck boss was more time consuming to take off and put on. Can anyone who has one comment on this? My cross trax deck does have a large gap going around it, but i can install and remove it in +/- 5 mins. I've been thinking about how to seal it from the weather. Using a sliding drawer( rat pack) system until I can find a way to seal it better. Any one have any ideas how to seal a deck?

I took my truck boss off this spring for the first time since I installed it 2 years ago. Would have come off in under an hour if most of the bolts on the clamps weren't seized. Had to cut 3 brackets off. I haven't put it back on yet but I'm dreading it all ready. Took me 5-6 hours to put it on the first time. I'm guessing I should have that down to 2-3 this time. Takes time to get it all squared up. Worst part is that thing is heavy being all aluminium. The truck boss is definitely not intended to be taken on and off. I took mine off this summer to see if it was worth it. I hate having my deck on all summer. Makes having a truck useless half the time, like if you want to haul junk to the dump, move furniture or appliances. Sure you can put it on the deck, but you got to get it up there. And as for sealing, it does a good with snow, ok with rain and zero with dust. With a little effort I could probably do something for the rain and dust. I would say it's not the deck sealing as much as the box has seems that let in water and dust. Long story short my truck boss will be going back on this week and not coming off until I sell it or buy a new truck. I'll continue to have to borrow a buddy's truck when I need to haul something that requires a truck box. It's not all bad though, when the deck is on I really like it. Best looking set up out there IMO. Sides slide in and out really nice, great ramp that's easy for 1 guy to use, gives the most room in the under the deck out of all it's competitors and with a locking tailgate it's the most secure set up around.

It is definitely time consuming, I take mine off in the spring and back on in the fall. It's definitely not a light deck, and if you want to replace a part, it's like playing a game of Tetris the way they're built. :)
If you're doing this by yourself, it takes about 45 minutes, I use a gantry to lift mine on and off my truck, you definitely won't be lifting this off with two people. As mentioned above, it does seal pretty good, dust will still get through from the bottom of the tailgate. I'll get a bit of water in if I'm using a pressure washer along the top rail of the box and deck seal, but nothing that will get your gear wet. All that said, I'm definitely happy with my truck boss, and the folks at Marathon are great to deal with.

Friend of mine has a super deck by Bulldog. It looks pretty tough. That being said, I think it as close to 5K or more, by the time he added beaver tail, telescopic ramps. Really nice though.

I'm trying to decide between a Marlon or Bulldog deck? Wondering what kind of prices if somebody has got either one of these with full set superglides instaled on the deck, front and back superclamps and the 10' telescoping ramp?

I have a black powder coated Marlon 8' aluminum deck with the 12' ramp. I am very happy with the deck so far. It was $2700 plus tax. adjustable sides, checkerplate top deck with upgraded ramp.

Had both styles!
2010 marathone
2012 truck boss

You couldn't give me that $$$ eves trough again. Did not care for the truck boss at all. Hard to get on and off. Only fits your truck without modding or buying different parts to put on different truck. The slots on the top are great for adjustment but suck salty b@lls for always dripping dirty water every 10" down both sides of your truck box. Drove me batty. I got the deck "free" with my truck and looked at it as a y sell it if I ever need it ill pop it on... Fail I sold it first chance I got. I did like the seal part. But if you take your deck on off. The truck boss is a pia. Compared to my 2010 marathone for the $$ differance now I'd take it over a boss any day of the week.
Truck boss did fu(k up my box side plastic cover, but that prob was a install thing " over tighten clamps".
They both have the best ramp system, loved the telascopic ramp. If I was spending big crash on a deck and couldn't get a marathone classic, I'd look at the lotis or jet craft
My two $
Plus did not like the cheesy wing nuts ya have to loosen to slide sides out ether. Very cheap and not easy to use when frozen

I just picked up my Full Lotus on Saturday and I'm still amazed at the fit and finish and the attention to detail this thing has. I've had a Marathon classic before and looked at all the others and none of them come close to the FL. I picked mine up right at the shop and they are truly one off hand built and full Tig welded, the owners, Mark and Devon are excellent to deal with and so far I cant say anything but great things about Ful lotus, Highly Recommend!
