I have 20"x10" Rockstars with 33" toyo mt's.

They are crazy heavy and I have lost 3-4 mpg and warped my brake rotors (i think).

Any brand/combinations out there that will be much lighter? I don't have to stick with 20", I will also consider a different tire size.

NO i am not putting 245's back on... Ha Ha ha.

weight of the tire will not make a whole bunch of difference its the diameter that makes the biggest difference ,gearing / tuning will compensate

The toyo MT are just about the heaviest tire you can get. I had a set of 35's on 18's.

I think you'll do much better to go with an AT tire on an 18 rim. much cheaper too. The narrower the tire the better mileage youll see, I know you dont want to go much smaller so that's a good way to save weight. look for something in a 75 sidewall profile.

Good luck

My rotors are warped also and I have stock wheels, I think its from all the weight I carry and stopping to fast. I can't see the rim/tire weight making that big of a diff.

On another note, I'm looking at some 20" rims with 305/55R20 tires, did yours fit with out a lift?

Thnx in advance:beer::beer:

I run 37" toyos now and they sure ride rougher than the procomp xterrains. Got a new set of 20x12 polished aluminum dick cepek rims if anyone is interested. For a superduty.

The biggest issue with warped rotors is improperly torqued wheels - ie: 1 stud 140 next 160, 140,175, etc... After that extreme heat which you already mentioned.

Hmmm yes. I just put mine on with the impact gun. better start torquing properly.

My 33 12.5 20's fit without trimming on the GMC but no mud flap.

I bought a set of 18" procomp rims off kijiji. that's 15 pounds per corner plus the weight I'll save on the rubber. thinking of 285/65/18. that will be another 20 pounds (toyo's are 75lb).

and yes, shaving 35 pounds of rotating mass will be a very noticeable difference in accelerating, braking, and mpg. I've already been there and the change was drastic when I moved up.

as most of you suggested It appears to be either balljoints or wheel bearings. I have to figure out how to properly test for either. ball joints will be an easy and cheap fix (on cognito uca's). I wish i wasn't replacing every year.

dont change the rims man i ran toyo mt's for years it is the tire Toyos are horrible when dealing with weight and heaight wich a diesel that runs on the highway is all of my toyos on my duramaxs last a max of 20,000 km's with rotating the tires. Go to a set of 285/60/20 toyo at's or what iam running now is a set of hankook Dynapro At's in a 275/65/20 with pro comp metal mulisha rims way lighter than the toyo mt's with better wear and yes good fuel economy my 2010 duramax with 17000 km's on it now gets 750-800 km's on a tank on the highway with the toyos and dpf removed I was seeing around 650 so a good improvement and way lighter trust me the rockstar rims are sick just get a new tire man and your worries will be taken care of

being a manager of a tire shop and specializing in toyo i will say if your looking for life the mt is not going to get the best wear it is a quiter mt due to the softer compound and my personal choice is the toyo at for sure seen great wear on diesel trucks ran 305/55R20 on my shop duramax with a edge juice and always pulling heavy great wear. but today i found out my new 2011 chevy 2500 has a new bolt pattern of 8 on 180 instead of the past gm bolt pattern of 8 on 6.5, I've found every one of my suppliers and had no such luck getting a set of 22's, there also saying the new urea tank is in the way on some rims, so if anyone does find a set of rims for a 2011 chev would be nice to know thanks

The only rims I could find for the new 8-180 bolt pattern were by Ultra Wheel, the Ultra Drifter through Tirerack.com and they are not expected to available until Oct.15,2010
