Put mine mounted where the two middle rivets are on the snowflap Dale. Swapped out the rivets for 2 small bolts with nyloc nuts. Better than on the tunnel and doesnt look that bad.

I got a BC sticker instead of a plate and I'm going to stick that to a piece of aluminum a little bit bigger than the sticker plate and drill hole in the plate or use 3M 2 sided sticky tape to mount it
may need to move plate to another machine

Just repeated the fish cop. Thanks for the info.
Well he is not correct about the AB requirements. Which is why I keep a laminated copy of page 10 from the AB OHV regulation in my tunnel bag.

Licence plates18
(1) The Registrar must issue an off-highway licence plate for anoff-highway vehicle if the Registrar issues a certificate ofregistration for the off-highway vehicle.
(2) The Registrar must issue off-highway vehicle licence plates inthe number and of the type and colour approved by the Minister.
(3) The owner of an off-highway vehicle must attach the licenceplate issued under subsection (1) securely to the front or rear of theoff-highway vehicle so that the licence plate is clearly visible.

As far as the location of my plate. If required it meets the regs.

Not a great pic but it's exact size of my plate. On left side of tunnel. No drilling cause it's a sticker. Can someone tell me why this is good enough? I'm starting to wonder if this really has to do with the caribou.

IMHO, this has nothing to do with caribou. Quads and SxS's were linked into the registration and they are not a noticeable problem for caribou. Sleds were always required to be registered in BC. This new process includes an electronic data base and a cash grab for the PST part of the taxes. Government looking for more money and nothing to do with caribou.

Big Nasty, you just won't give in will you! Hah! Law says it has to be mounted in BC, I don't see many people driving around without plates on their trucks, same law applies so don't know why you wouldn't adhere to the one with sleds, somewhat baffling. Contrary to what others have said about mounting it on the snow flap, mines been there and I've ripped and stripped pretty much whatever when sledding this season and it's still there! Not sure why its such a big deal to fasten it there, but that's sledders! Well, some of them..........

Don't get me started Sherm! Lol. I have lost a plate on my pro ( The trees really like my sled) and cost me 54$ to replace it. Plus its a long ways to get a replacement in Alberta. At least I have it registered. lol. This next statement is opening up another can of worms but I'm bored at work so here it goes, Why are OHV's different then personal vehicles? I could Transfer over a 2014 Acura SUV that was bought in Alberta to BC without paying PST but cant with my 2015 Skidoo I bought the same yr. Sorry I'm not paying 1000$ To transfer now and get a plate for BC. Just another tax grab! My opinion only. Its registered and insured in Alberta which is where I spend more then Half a yr. And plate is in tunnel bag till I have to pay a fine.

Thought if you moved to bc you were exempt from taxes when registering vehicles including sleds???

Vehicle yes not Sleds, Just my experience, ICBC (a couple different places I checked )told me straight out need to pay PST. I have heard other guys have not had to pay PST but this is right from ICBC mouth, But they seemed really confused on it all.

This is one of those "no win" scenario's when it comes to posts! We're all gonna do what we're gonna do, and so be it. Just don't be the whinny whinner if and when you get a coupon for not displaying it properly, that's all. I still believe in the registration system as a means to track down and recover stolen sleds, it obviously isn't much of a deterrent for those stealing them, but then dirt bags will be dirt bags and that's who they'll wind up selling them to. If you want to talk about tax grabs, here in BC when we now buy a used car/truck we have to pay PST, again, whereas in previous years we only had to pay the GST, now that's a spanking! I'll inspect your sled for that plate next time we're out Big Nasty, make sure its clean!!!

Well, after my tunnel cracked from a hole drilled for the licence plate install, I will not attach to my tunnel again. I tried the snow flap install but that only lasted one ride. I have been stopped twice in Alberta and the first was just happy to see the registration and the second officer verbally warned me to install on my tunnel but after telling him that was not a legal installation, he backed away and moved on. I will continue to carry in my tunnel bag as there is no acceptable solution for me.

As for Alberta, ask the officer where they install the plate on their sleds and when he says "on the side of the tunnel" explain to him that it is not any more legal than in your bag.

The plate always stays clean in the tunnel bag! hahaha, maybe the new sled will have it installed on snow flap, that's a big maybe. lol

He mounted it for BC; front, back, or left side.......................I don't see a problem!

That would open a can of worms for jurisdictional enforcement would it not? It is an Alberta sled, registered in Alberta. It should follow the mounting regulations set out in the Alberta OHV regs.

By modifying the mounting location to suit BC laws what does that say about any other provincial laws should that be accepted? Sure a BC fish cop or RCMP may accept that location, but then shouldn't they now accept other non conformity? Not likely as they will enforce it as they feel fit but to what end is someone willing to go?

The best solution is as it always has been. Follow the regulations from your home province regardless of where you ride and make sure you are aware of those specific regs and the requirements of your riding areas.

Someday BC and AB can get out of the stone age and adapt their regs like in the East where they allow for variations of "decal" or sticker registrations. Its not like registering sleds and other OHV is a new concept. Why did they have to muck with it and screw it up so bad.

I don't know why it matters from bc to Alberta whether it's an actual plate or sticker as long as you have the actual registration that matches the plate, the serial number on the sled and your picture Id. I'm from Alberta and I just got a sticker made that is an actual picture of the plate and the same size because I also do not want to drill holes in my tunnel. Just as an extra measure I carry the actual plate in my tunnel bag.

Why are so many people against drilling holes in the tunnel? I don't understand this scenario........like really what is the big deal? Resale? Weakening the tunnel? Or just being red neck?

Put rivets in the holes when you sell the sled and the structural integrity will not be compromised. Small holes will not weaken the tunnel and if the tunnel bends at the holes then you are obviously don't something else wrong.

Give your head a shake and think about it. Really? 2 or 4 small holes? What difference does it make. End of rant................

Well there are regulations that prohibit that in Alberta

Prohibited display20

A person who owns or drives an off-highway vehicle forwhich an off-highway vehicle licence plate has been issued shallnot display on the off-highway vehicle any other plate or devicebearing numbers or letters or both that are identical to or have thegeneral appearance of a licence plate.
