I put my snowcoach up for sale yesterday on kijiji then received a email. I've never sold anything on kijiji but it just seems fishy. Here's the email. Give me your thoughts

Thanks for your swift response. I will be glad if you can mail me the present condition cuz due to nature of my job i will not be able to come for inspection, am a very busy type as i work long hours everyday, i have gone through your advertisement and i am satisfied with it.

Your price is Okay and i can offer you little bit more like $1,900.00, am offering you more than your asking price due to other potential buyers i hope my offer is acceptable..?

As for the payment..i will be paying you via the fastest and secure way to pay online(PayPal).

I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after the payment have been made ... So no shipping included.. My private courier agent will come for the pick up and sign all necessary documents on my behalf after the payment have been made, as they will also be coming with all the information needed, my details and transferring the name of ownership to me will be done by the pick up agent so you don't have to worry about that...

You can now send me your PayPal email so i can pay in right away and also include your address in your reply. If you don't have a paypal account, you can easily set up one...log on to www.paypal.com and sign up. its very easy.I await your reply asap."

Nobody legitimate pays more than asking price, especially unseen. Somehow this won't be good for you.

I sell lots of stuff on Kijiji, and I get the same sort of email every second day or so. I don't know if it's the same douchebag, or if there's a multitude of them, but follow boost's advice and run. I'm not exactly sure how this scam works....I think they actually might pay you through Paypal, pick up the item, then cancel payment. Always ask for a phone number....if they won't give it to you, or it's an out of country area code....tell em to lick bag.

no its easy to spot a scam from the outside, but when its on yourself your excitement gets caught up you know. ive had this thing for sale for long time, not on kijiji though, then a day after posting the add $$$$ is mentioned and i got a little excited. ive seen similar scams before, but usually with money mart or whatever, paypal is more secure. im running far away, just wanted a second opinion

rule of thumb with kijijiji is cash or no deal.

kiijiji and paypal = scam

They don't need an address or phone number or name for that matter to pay money through Paypal. I just give them the e-mail address associated with my Paypal account...tell them that when the funds are cleared, I will ship the item. Of course I actually would never respond to an e-mail worded like the one you received...that's for sure a Nigerian scammer.

I can understand how one would get a little excited at the prospect of getting more money than originally anticipated. the common theme seems to be offering more than the asking price, work has them far away preventing them from personally looking at the item, shipping agents that you must pay using extra funds paid, and paypal/western union. the broken english and poor grammar is the icing on the cake....lol
