Has anyone used one of the places for a sled clutch balancing , there all in Edmonton

Was part of that conversation. I'm surprised so many think that is no big deal. I would be asking for a new clutch, no hesitation, or buying one if need be.

When I scrolled through the pics I could feel the movement and flexing. Pieces of the cover were missing. I was cringing. The towers and sheave are cast and have been stressed which makes them weaker. The only fix is to replace the whole clutch but who wants to spend $1,000 on a new clutch? I don’t know if Cat has covered any cracky clutches yet. Even if Cat supplies the clutch, it will come with a crappy cover and same result will happen.


A description for this scenario is a CCC(Cat Clutch Cluster, say it ten times if you can).

Although the clutch isn’t a Cat, maybe the following picture will jiggle some wallets at Cat/Team.

On a kind of bad humor observation, notice how the curve and markings of the gash is the same as the outer clutch sheave. It’s a stylish curvy cut and it kinda looks like a smile too. I can’t believe I looked at that injury for so long.

I got a call from a buddy, he was telling me about a cat primary that flew apart at full throttle. What a mess it made of the sled, even hit the pipe and ruined it. Very lucky there was no injuries.

The doctor must have been in a hurry...looks like a third of the stitches that should have been used.

Then again, maybe it was his friends that patched him up...if that’s the case...good job.

was in eagles on friday. I ran into some friends that rented a new Alpha. They were in the process of towing it out because the primary grenaded and exited the snowmobile. Clutch spring was laying 20ft from the sled. Insane

Check clutches every ride. Couple hundred miles on my replacement clutch, no cracks yet.

Nothing. Zero. Zilch. Nada. It was a complaint to the USA Consumer Safety Protection Agency so I’m kinda surprised there’s no action.

Heck, when a single child kinda chokes on a toy wrapper they do a massive insta recall on the toy. I guess we gotta wait for injury. Any volunteers wanna take one for the team? Haha

The back story is he was working on the sled, testing the clutch operation. He was standing on the left of the sled, working the throttle with his right hand. Whatever the rider position, this clutch or Alpha clutch exploding can/will cause severe or severed(haha!) injury.

Well I call total bullshat on this whole story!
That is not an Ctec head on that motor.....Looks like an old doo head casting.
That is most certainly not a Alpha side panel or secondary.
