I remember going to a hill climb at the Fernie ski hill around 1999. None of this slalom stuff, just climb. The Cats had superior suspension at that time and were floating over all the bumps. Everything else was pogo sticking all over the place.

I was there watching I think that was on the Stagleap run It is steep and narrow Every bit as steep as that hill at Snowking. That was before I owned sleds. I thought those guys were insane.

Amazing the talent some of these guys have. They are off the sled as much as on. Colton Olstad made it over today as well as Jason Ribi and Carl

So
Chain brakes are great for new riders coming down big long glacier rollers
makes for safer rides home at the end of the day,

on another note..... I don’t get this Jackson hole crap, who the hell likes spinning out on ice and dirt all day with a sled?
And at a stupid SKI hill none the less, a sled is not fun or rippin at this race, why don’t they do it on a real sled mountain with deep snow and no dirt?
no plankers watching from chair lifts
no spotters cuz the snow is deep and who cares where sled goes when they eat shxt
no stupid shxt spring snow pack, after the plankers are done with it all year
no single track, two at once or new hill run every day
no dumb ski hill confinement
idk...I could name a hundred more but each to there own I guess, it’s just not a deep pow crazy long race it could be.
just a race on shxt spring hard pack snow with dirt, lol I think deep powder and sleds are a better combination and I couldn’t care who’s brand of sled made it up a icy dirt run

Just auctioning off Rob Kincaid stuff right now. His sled got over $200,000 for charity in a raffle. The first helmet of his autographed by Cat racers and celebs got $7300. His jersey he raced in in a show box got $12300. His everyday helmet that he rode in the back country with his kids signatures on it garnered $1750. Amazing how people spent for a great charity cause.

Back in the day we used to carry small loops of chain to throw over our skis to slow us going down steep inclines that had morphed into toboggan runs.
Ya in the 80s we used these on the Allen creek trail
