If you seen how big of base was under that pole you'd know why it didn't budge......The concrete under it weights many many many times more then the truck. A tractor trailer would have a very hard time moving it, if it would even. Some of those are down 20+ feet.

What does the footing have to do with the strength of the pole itself? It could be down 6 feet and make that damage if it was frozen...Usually a pole will cave under that amount of side impact.

Because if the base is the weak point the pole goes down? I guess that's it.....No wait that's BS those poles are held by balancing no base needed obviously! A good impact would tear a 6' base out frozen or not.......

Plus he said "The pole didn't move a inch" AKA Didn't move AKA the base held AKA it had a good base. Clear enough?

And yes the SMALLER poles will cave under impact, not the 60 footers unless it's a massive impact.

Some are, but many aren't. Any street lights, or the taller davits are made not to shear as it would be very dangerous for them to go down. Many that are made to shear are very easy to pick out, they have a small section just above the base to shear off to avoid bending the bolts in the concrete base, these are found on roads where they are common to be hit. Only the small ones go down.

Some of the big ones, there is not a vehicle on the road that is capable of taking them down.

I call it like i see it, judging by the damage and knowing the laws of basic physics he was driving "WAY" too for the conditions, so doesnt matter if it was self inflicted or ran off the road he wouldnt of caused that much damage if he was driving properly! And its not like Edmonton drivers have the best track record for safe and cortious driving.
