Import Diesels

Do any of you have any info if and when Toyota or Nissan will be introducing diesel trucks into our market?
My 3 year lease on my 05 Chev Duramax is up this month and my dealer is trying to get me to trade in on a new one. I have put some money into my truck (ie. 4" Rancho lift, Edge chip, Tires and Rims) so I am going to buy it out and continue to run it for a while.
I have heard that Nissan and Toyota will be coming out with their full size diesels in the next year or two but I still don't know how much truth there is to that?
My buddy just picked up a New Nissan Titan and I am really impressed with it (for a gas 1/2 ton anyways). As much as I'd like to continue to buy from the Big 3 (GM, FORD or DODGE) I can't help but want to take a look at these imports.
Anyone know what the story is?

The one thing that I don't like about the nissan titan is that it does not have a block heater in it and Nissan does not sell them.This is what I read on here or outlaw atv club site.Verti-Kyle could you chaeck with your buddy to see if this is true about the block heater.

I'm driving a Toyota Tundra and it has a block heater. The only down fall is that it's a company truck on loan to us for 18,000 km and then i have to go back to driving an '07 chev which i'm not looking forward to. The toyota has better seats w/ a lumbar support, rides higher than a chev 1/2 ton and has more pep to it. Chev's seem to start falling apart once you start driving oil/logging roads.

I have never heard anyone say that!!!!!!! You should go on to you tube and type Tundra and watch the video, and how well that the c-channel frame on the tundra performs. I have owned one of everything as I have been in the automotive industry for a long time, they all have good and bads, but I have never heard of a toyota outlasting a chev or ford in the rough country!!!!

I've only got 14000 km's on the Tundra to date and almost half of those are on rough gravel roads. The real test would come during break up and see how well it would handle being bag driven into a soft muddy clay lease. Unfortunately I won't have it then to try it out, just a loaner till 18000 km's.

I just looked at one of the new Tundras. The wiring for the trailer hangs down below the rear bumper and the wires to the rear tail lights look like they would a bit of aftermarket protection to help them survive a lot of gravel road use. Other than that looks like a sweet truck. I've been hearing good things about the power of the 5.7 engine.

Just asked my buddy if his Titan has a block heater and he said he briefly looked for it and couldn't find it. (he has a heated garage so he didn't look real hard)
If that is true that you can't get a block heater then someone in Nissan's engineering dept. needs a slap upside the head.
I am not particularly loyal to any manufacturer cause frankly I haven't had great experiences with any of them. I do have a friend that has a 1995 Toyota Tacoma (he bought it new in '95) and that thing is bullet proof. He is on his second engine (has over 450,000 miles on the original drive train) and he drives it like it is stolen. Seeing how his truck has lasted is probably the biggest reason I am interested in checking out their new diesels.
I have a feeling that GM Ford and Dodge will be in big trouble once the import diesels are out (assuming they stand up O.K.) because I think that has been what has been keeping them profitable.

Wow, that thing looks Bad Ass!
I've seen a few new Tundras in the City that are done up with lifts and wheels and they are awesome.
I'm sure the new diesels will have a pretty steep price tag though.

Our company owned Titan has a bloack heater.

I have been looking at a new pickup and the thought of a 3/4 or 1 ton toyota (Hino) diesel has got me wired.
