Same thing happened to me the ramps were tied off, but the left one collapsed. Thanks to my sled training I kicked myself out from under it just in the nick of time, my newlywed wife who watched the gong show was hurt more than I was.

I will be honest here, never saw the reason for those 2 straps, only ever put the quad in the back twice but never tied off ... thanks to this vid , i learned a lesson the EASY way for once

my wife bought me a factory folding ramp last yr ,and shes ALWAYS there when I load the quads..making sure the straps are on..
Been there done that, got the stiches to prove.

It helps to make sure you are in 4x4 as well,,,,,, even tied off a 2 wheel drive mode will kick them out,,,,,,,,, it only takes a second to make your life a wreck!!!!

This video is very real. Not only tie down your ramps but don't load a quad in a method that it wasn't meant for. 3 years ago at Shelter Bay on Marie Lake (North of Cold Lake) we were just leaving and stopping at the boat launch to throw the garbage away in the bins. A distraught fellow was there and asked if we saw the ambulance. No but my wife being a nurse asked if she could do some thing. He said this native indian was doing CRP on his brother in law Jerry and could use a hand. Jerry was trying to load his quad with ramps from the right side of the truck. He had 2 boards on top of the truck box that spanned the width where the quad would ride on. Because of the steepness of the ramps and the height, he needed good momentum. Well he keep going and the quad flipped over the other side and landed on top of Jerry. For 30 minutes my wife and the native took turns with CPR. The native was so proud because he just learned CPR the previous week. When the ambulance arrived my wife continued with CPR in the ambulance to Cold Lake. Unfortunately Jerry probably died shortly after the quad flipped on him front head and neck injuries. The moral of this story is don't do something stupid especially how you load quads. These machines are 600lbs. Take your time and look do it right. If you can't do it right then don't do it. Don't cheat safety. It's too late for poor Jerry. He tried to save space in his truck. It was a family reunion and now it turned into a funeral. Think think think!

Who didn't see that comin? Too slow, too steep, too scared and with no momentum...not to mention, no helmet and no 4x4. Hopefully this guy is still alive to possibly laugh about it.
