Hello just a quick note to sara i do appologize if i did step on any toes of the people that are working hard to free the horses i honestly thought that a little media coverage would be good and if it is needed it is easy to raise some quick money to help remidy the situation if it gets expensive as i don't think the people who are working hard in the feild should not have to take money out of there pockets as well, i think it is the least we can do for the local people of mcbride who are going above and beyond for these trapped animals.

you will never convince an animal lover to see it from your side. believe me, I come from a family of bleeding hearts. and on the other side, you cannot fault one for caring and doing what they can to help a living creature in distress. your feelings are your own, as are those that CHOOSE to help.

I have sort of the same feeling toward the crackheads that beg for money on Jasper Ave, they CHOSE to be there and homeless. I have no empathy for them. these horses made no choices, except to serve their master who has let them down in the worst of ways.

I feel that there needs to have something for the people that have been putting in long days TRYING and WORKING very hard to get the horses out. maybe a gift certificate at the pub here in mcbride... its been great to have wonderful people doing that . GOD BLESS THEM......

Well,... my wife and I actually agree on this.

You HAVE to try and save these horses, NOT shoot them.

The owner SHOULD be held accountable, AND his name made public.

And we DID make a donation to help with the costs.

I've got to say that one of the fellows that has been digging all week is someone with a ton of mountain experience, horse outfitting experience, and sledding experience. There is no doubt in my mind that if he had gone in on Tuesday and found two horses on the verge of death or on the verge of giving up, he would have done the right thing and ended it for them knowing that it was the best thing to do for them. but he didn't. For me that says everything and when I started this post two nights ago it was the intent to put the word out there that more hands were needed to dig. Looking forward to hearing how today went and seeing if shovelling is on the schedule tomorrow.

You know, i just sat here and read every single post. Obviously there are alot of people wanting to help out in this situation which is fine. But there is always the odd guy that just has to try and throw his two cents in, and generally is against the animal lovers post or the generous person just wanting to see a great result.Now obviously people have their own views, but some poeple need to just let it be. From what i read alot is being done, there is a well laid out plan on the table, so dont try and put a kink in it for the people putting in endless hours. Whether the media is contacted or not, its only going to make us sledders look better, becuase we do have hearts to, and have people pushing to see action taken against the owner. There is alot of good stuff being said and alot of valid points mentioned. At the end of the day, and if you were in this same situation ask yourself, if you would like to live to see another day, or enjoy the last 3 seconds as you look down a barrel. Keep up the good work, and hope for the best.

Who is the vet? I work for an animal health pharmacuetical company that was very involved with the rescue 100 horses outside Sherwood Park. Bioniche Animal Health donated mineral and ulcer treatment products to the malnourished horses. I could likely arrange to do something similar for these horses once you get them down. We have an excellent wound care product Derma Gel that I can get you to treat the torn hide.

Kelly, Summit889 I do undertand your view in light of the fact that almost everyday we watch the news and see thousands of children dying of starvation, Darfur, etc and no one is moved to do anything. I think your comments come from frustration - rescuing these horses is not wrong, people just need to ask themselves if my heart is moved for abondoned horses, why is it not moved for abandoned children. If you are motivated to do something for these horses what are you doing for your fellow man?

That's where i have a problem. you threw helping animals and people in the same sentence. The way i see it is you shoot the animals and take the money saved to help people. I guess thanks to PETA and others who put animals on the same level as humans, I am kind of indifferent when it comes to animals.

PS i am not saying that you put humans and animals on the same level.

This is where my money goes.

Learn something before you start adding your thoughts. SP has open books - why don't you look into it. I went to Peru with Samaritan's Purse last year to volunteer with earthquake clean up. I fully paid my way as SP's mandate is to give as much as possible to the people in need. We handed out their Operation Christmas Chld shoeboxes to impoverished kids. Set up food programs for people that had lost everything and I can tell you from first hand witness - SP ensures that your dollar donated gets to the needy.

You are so far off the mark on this one........
