I think garmin bought out Delorme as well. Memory Maps carries Delorme on their app. Not sure how this will work. My goodness did you look at the cost to make this work??? I hate payments my cell phone has a 711 speakout sim card. Cost is 25 dollars for a year for pay and talk. Never going to use a handheld gps as the main means for navigation...been there done that. Kind of like saying a digital camera takes better pictures than a cell phone.

Maybe garmin will pull the rug out from under Memory Maps as far as Delorme goes, this would end their satellite detection app. I have the free delorme map and pay for etopo maps and nautical charts. I should have purchased their mountain view of BC but it was discontinued about 15 years back, was that outstanding.

For anyone just looking to use their phone as a GPS I highly recommend the MAPS 3D app. Well worth the upgrade for around $5 too. Use offline, just make your map first. Even can download the Caribou closures on to it.

Memory Maps does do 3d topo maps as well, but not on the phone or tablet that I am aware of. Just the laptop and pc. However google earth has excellent 3d view on the phone and tablet. Nice to see people sharing their apps. I will not share the sledding routes I have stored on Memory Maps

Ok Mr.X-man, I installed memory maps on my tablet. Where do I get a free map of the Sicamous area? And how do I "install" it on my tablet?

Oh man now I have to guide you through it? I hope your tablet is not an Ipad? If not go to google play store and download Memory Map app. Start it up it should look like that picture I have just above your post. The first one that looks like a bunch of pages on top of each other. Click on that left side you should have a choice of JPR, Nautical and topo under map types. So maybe just select Topo for now or you will be overwhelmed by to many maps. Right side is more maps, keep hitting more maps and tons of them come up. Up to DeLorme L 12 is All free. All the rest are free for 10 days. It will tell you what is free and what is not anyway. Now you have to learn how to download the maps for offline use, this is tricky but they do have a video how to do it. Basically you have go draw a line around the area you and download it. In my case I bought the DVD years ago for all of bc and alberta are on a sd card so I do not have to do anything they are already in my tablet, phone, computer and laptop. These are the only ones I have selected

Or just pay the 19.99 us dollars and that will give you all of BC in 1:250000 and 1:50000. Those maps may take an hour to download for the whole province, so they can be used offline.

I did look up some tutorials on youtube... All of them had memory maps on a pc, drew that "box" around the area they wanted and downloaded that section as two separate files onto mobile device. I'm assuming I have to do the same for my android tablet?

First things first.... does your tablet have a built in gps? If it does just click on the Delorme L12 the map it will automatically start clearing up, then learn how to download it. It is all free... I think because I have it on my tablet and do not pay for it. Anything free and your not into their data base. Start going down that rabbit hole and you start to realize there is a whole world out their you have had no clue existed for 30 years. Maps.. wholly crap that many, licensing agreements of all kinds. It is overwhelming but man does it work good. Of coarse your tablet has a glass screen not like handheld gps's with that plastic stuff, so get a cover for it, then buy a case for it. -20 and screens break. I have never had a problem with my tablet snowmobiling using a cover and case for years. Memory Maps is not just another app...haha. Google earth app tilt feature is really cool to, learn about data cash, for some reason you need memory maps to get the gps working right in google earth.

Haha now all you have to get used to is the crowd hovered around your tablet when you stopped trying to get info on locations

Judging by the amount of mud and water you are in arff I would get a handheld gps as well. I have heard of lots of closed area's in alberta, we do not have the problem in BC yet, until we vote in the NDP. Backroads is one of the few that has atv trails, maybe more atver's in alberta should join wikiloc and start uploading the atv trails. Garmin gps will link to wikiloc. 104 atv routes have been uploaded so far in alberta. More of you's should start using it and make your own great maps. It works really well with phones. There are shock proof phones out of china for under 200 bucks that are water proof to 20 feet or so, lots of features. But they are touch screens and your muddy slimy fingers....well. This one is 88 bucks Canadian.

I just got the Garmin InReach Explorer + LAtethis season and still figuring it out but so far really satisfied! Never let me down and always makes the wife happy when I can send her a text in the middle of nowhere!

So I ended up buying the Garmin Montana 610 with the Alberta, BC Backroads Mapbooks. So far it seems like this will be a good setup for exploring in my RZR. Heading out to the Interior of BC the week of May Long to try it out.

I just downloaded the mob Armor gps app to my phone .. looks like a simple ,user friendly setup.
Going to give it a whirl this weekend . Any one use it or have any feedback ?
